Evening all,

                   I was lucky enough this morning as I drove to work to see a very shiny Cappagh blue-liveried class 60 at the head of an equally shiny set of aggregate boxes, heading East over the bridge across the Lincoln Eastern bypass. It would have made a lovely photo had I not been otherwise-engaged! Just wondered if anybody happens to know the identity of the loco, please? The train passed at about 0815 AM. Many thanks.

My copy arrived in the post this morning. From an initial, brief scan, it looks very good. Some interesting images, but plenty of reading, too; and it will be interesting to get a very different perspective to the perhaps more typical mainstream, locomotive book. I shall look forward to a more in-depth peruse when time allows.

Just picked up a copy by chance on a rare sortie into Tesco (other supermarkets are available!)  this  evening - what  a lovely surprise!  Haven't been on here for a few days, so missed the initial post on Thursday. It looks really good - and way more fun than what I went in for!!!! 😆 Looking forward to settling down to a proper wade through later on, once the chores are finished.  What a great way to brighten up a Monday...

Not me, I'm afraid - sorry.  I have definitely seen a thread on here previously, though.

Funnily enough, I too have a Hornby ferry van upgrade in progress, though stalled currently.  The daft part is that I have done the more difficult bit of sorting out and lowering the ride height, replacing wheels, mounting Kadees, etc; it now runs beautifully. It is the, relatively straightforward, cosmetic work on the body shell, which has slowed me down (by several years!) - not because it's complex (it is one of the relatively recent re-releases with a rather nicely done Railfreight red/grey livery). Just that the enthusiasm to do so went for a walk some time ago and has yet to return.  However, it is close enough to completion (and remains a nice model) that I will dig it out and try to get it done before Rapido's variant turns up in due course! 🙂 Oh well, it's about enjoying the journey, after all...

A very nice set of wagons indeed; hard to believe their origins, looking at them there on the layout, in context.  Well worth the time and effort you've expended on them.  I really must dig out the pair I have stashed away in my roundtuit box!

A bit late perhaps but just wanted to say how much I enjoyed your video of Lapford, especially the latter half with the sound dubbed on.  A really fun watch!  Also good to see the layout in the Modeller.  Good luck with whatever you do next - you've a wonderful basis to build on and I hope it brings you as much fun as Lapford clearly does.

Evening all.

Just working through my stash of old JB models kits, looking for alternative loads for the warflats.  I have a couple of 105mm light gun sets, but to my memory, I don't recall ever seeing these wheeled guns on trains - I spent a fair bit of time spotting at Salisbury from 1977 until I moved away in 1992 - nor have I ever seen them in pictures, as far as I can remember.  My assumption is that they might have been moved about in ISO containers, (or perhaps I just wasn't there at the right time) - but does anybody know for sure, please?  TVM.

Postie's just been - glad I am working from home today!  These have arrived and wowee, aren't they something? Sorry they haven't made it as far as the layout yet.  Lovely model with a quality 'feel' to it.  Excellent, well thought out packaging, too, so no risk of knocking off detail by clumsy handling.  Well done, Revolution - great job.  Layout might need to be a smidge longer now, though...

Definitely the highlight of this month's Modeller for me.   I am hugely impressed at how much quality modelling you have crammed into a very small space, yet managed to avoid making it look overcrowded or contrived.  Even the bulk of the mighty 40 doesn't look out of place!

Good evening all.  Could anybody help me with the numbers of the two DBS (Red) 66s I saw East of Lincoln this morning (Monday 25th Oct) at about 0805 on an RHTT train, crossing over the Bypass, Lincoln-bound, on the line from Peterborough, please?   They didn't look to dirty yet, but I guess it's early in the season.  Many thanks.

Great issue, thank you.  I collected mine this morning  - fortuitously I was on a carefully-planned day off! 

Plenty to enjoy, with a nice article on Irish Rail in the 1990s and some great pictures.  David Ratcliffe's article on the UKF Fertilizer Vans was also interesting, especially the great colour picture of the rebuilt van with the unusual roof in the dark blue Kemira livery atop page 19.  Looking forward to settling down for a proper read later on.

Chris, You're right - they do look nice with a load, too.  Sounds like a win-win to me!  Must extract a digit and make a start on my second 432 - one on a wagon's okay, but as your picture shows, 2 vehicles looks really purposeful, especially with the chocks and strapping in place. Very tidy.  The understated weathering helps too.

Great pictures, Peter. Particularly like the one of the 40 sticking it's nose out of the Shed. Somehow reminiscent of covers of the Ian Allen 'Locoshed' books many of us carried. Really liked the backstory, too - adds colour and credibility.

Have to admit to having bought another wagon myself last weekend when i realised how many vehicles i need to accommodate. I was also accummulating a small stash of Airfix scorpions prior to the pandemic to go with a set of scimitars my  talented younger brother had built and painted for me. I think i remember which box they're in!!!!
