Phillips Hue throughout the house here. It's great having bulbs on sensors that only come on when needed and vary their brightness according to the time of day. It's also very handy to get home in the winter and have bits of the house light up as I pull onto the drive. I'm a complete convert.
I can see the whole Alexa thing being useful for anyone with limited mobility or blind, and it's occasionally useful, if a bit slow, for switching the lights on when you've got your hands full, but that's about it for me. I have no desire to connect my fridge/toaster/whatever to the internet.
