  1. Hi Brian,

I have really enjoyed your "Thumper' build. So much so that I took a sneaky trip to Alresford today and took several pics of their Hampshire 2 car unit. (I think it was originally a 3 car set, as there data panel states length over buffers as 199' 6".

I was unable to gain access to photograph the inside, so couldn't get any cab, engine room or passenger area photos.

I have to agree the inserts on the door windows are a must have.

I’m hoping to purchase a two car kit, and would love to enhance the kit as you have with the extra detailing parts.

As with others on this thread, I have had no luck with DJH with obtaining parts, even though I had previously purchased a RTR 03 from them.

If you have time, I would be grateful if there could be a chance of you posting a list of parts and source of them?

    Many thanks,

    Rich

  2. Class 66

Amazing the details you find when doing some research, I didn't know there were so many difference even within one sub class.

Just within the 66/7 I find that the lighting on 66701-707 is different to to the later loco's although 66731 seems to have the same lighting and then 66730 has a completely different  light set again.

Add to that that some have five doors and some have 4, not fully worked out which is which yet, but it seems it can be a mine field, resprays and renumbers are just the half of it.

I think the low emission 66 has the extra door.

    Edit as couldn't spell emission!

  3. Up the plasterboard road to the station, the road up to brasted station was quite steep and in the winter must have been quite daunting for the railway passenger getting off of the train at night, as it was about half a mile from Brasted Village all down a narrow country lane in the dark. To make the approach road up to the station, and the area in front of the station building and into the goods yard i am going to use some plasterboard, this will require bending to form the slope, the board has been cut to the approx ,and on the flat part I have put some weights, where the slope starts I have wet the surface with some water, when it had soaked in I and then added weights to the far end, this seems to have worked but I have left it overnight to dry out.  If it works on to the next stage. (if not back to the drawing board). :read:

That looks like a strange water tower...... :jester:

  4. Silo construction is brilliant, possibly a little bright, weathering may tone it down. Might be the camera, but brilliant anyway.

    Hi Celticwardog.

Thanks for your comments. The silo was sprayed with Blue Circle cellulose and nearly burned my eyes out!! I have toned it down, and in the flesh it now looks quite faded.

  5. I'm only just dipping my toes in to the world of scratch building, and only have a couple of 'showable' items, one being the 7mm cement silo shown on the link below.

Modellers ingenuity  never ceases to amaze and inspire me. I spend hours surfing this site constantly being amazed at the quality and realism achieved. If I could turn back time, I would have spent more time concentrating on acedemic studies at school, and become a civil engineer. Anyway, I digress, here are my pics......
