Very nice!   Astrocooker is a new one on me.    I feel some research coming on.

Unfortunately and much to my annoyance Astrocooker was pulled from its website today due I think to a licensing issue with the underlying software developer. Hopefully it will make a comeback in some form as it was a quick way to get some initial image processing done.

In another post, if anyone's interested, I'll mention some of the other mods and gadgets I've concocted or used and also list some of the software packages I use to process images.  In the meantime I'll leave you with perhaps my best image of Jupiter to date complete with the Great Red Spot and its 4 Galilean moons.

Wow that’s a great photo of Jupiter with the equipment you have. I’ve not ventured into planetary photography as my refactor is only 250mm FL and planets are just tiny dots. I stick with large DSO’s but their faint light brings other challenges with long exposure times and tracking accuracy.

    hi all.

just a quick update. i decided to stop selling turntable related products due to a recent amount of abuse/upset and i just dont feel it was justified. I was making them cause i love doing it, solding boards together, writting code, interacting with customers, helping them to write arduino code, but i feel like i have just had my nads repeatidly whacked with a bat ( Boyle style from B99! ) and the amount of rudeness and upset doesnt justify going on. Never really understood why people are rude and nasty and threatening to people. dont want to be part of it.

If anyone wants help with code, or writting, or help with problems, still available to help.

Sorry to hear that Ian. If you have any boards left please PM me as I'm sure I can find a use for a few.

I have a couple of DP2X-UK decoders in the storage boxes, but have found them to be a bit variable in quality - when they are good, they are VERY good, but when they are not so good, they can be frustrating to set up properly. I do have reservations about whether the Lenz decoder will fit. Still, it won't go to waste if it doesn't.

Works fine for me with the default settings in both the Hornby H and M7. Although, as you say they can be a bit odd with some locos.

Always good to catch up on developments, Jeff. Looking good as always.

I have two Ns. Both are good runners but one is reverse-wired meaning I have to remember that it requires “reverse” in order to move forwards and that it cannot ve used in multiple with anything else. A job for tge soldering iron when I’m feeling brave!

You can change the direction by altering bit 1 of CV29.

Good news from the EU six member states have now overtaken the UK's vaccination rates for the double-jabbed. Malta is way ahead with Belgium, Spain, Portugal, Denmark and Ireland all exceeding the UK's total; it may well be that you're safer at one of these holiday destinations than at home. Also of interest is that Italy and the Netherlands are close to the UK; your delayed trip to Italy might be a good prospect for next year.

According to the BBC website the UK currently is 75% Adults fully vaccinated which is way above 5 of the 6 EU countries quoted (apart from Malta@80+%, the others around 60%).

"More than 47 million people - about 89% of all UK adults - have now received a first dose of a vaccine and nearly 40 million people, or around 75% of all adults, have had a second."

Large areas of Kent and Essex in the past few days are turning yellow again, as are swathes in the southern part of England, and large parts of Wales and Scotland. Lets hope these mass interventions will work

    How do you define 'yellow'.

Welsh county's currently are mostly less than 10 cases per 100,000. Exception is Newport at 30 per 100,000 and a few others just above 10 per 100,000.

The think is as well as the Pfizer and Astra Zenica we will have supplies of the Moderna and Valvena vaccines, so we will have plenty to chose from and the results is having 2 different vaccines gives even better protection. If the Pfizer vaccines are authorised for 12+ age groups it would greatly reduce one of the major contributors of the spike in the autumn/early winter last year.

Is there any scientific data to back that statement up?

  9. You could try a Tam Valley Startup Module. I had this on one of my layouts and it cured the problem.

    Quote:

TurnOn Module - Soft Start Circuit For Large Inrush Currents of Sound Decoders and Stay Alive Decoders
If you have a lot of sound decoders and decoders with stay alive circuits on the track, they can confuse the booster* when it starts up in to thinking there is a short because of the sudden current draw of all the capacitors. This circuit prevents that problem by putting a small resistance in to the circuit to slow the current rush and once the voltage gets up a 10 Amp relay bypasses the resistor so that there is a straight connection to the booster*.  (If you have no idea what the previous explanation is about and you are not having any touble with starting your layout then you don't need the TurnOn.)

On the Zoe app point, throughout most of last year I regarded that as the most accurate estimate we had. Cases vastly outnumbered testing capacity. Now I'm not so sure. I'm not saying I disagree with it, I honestly wouldn't like to say one way or the other.

I'm not so sure that its that accurate when you look at specific areas (particularly rural) . The Zoe App estimate seems to consistently under report the actual number of cases in our area. I guess its a function of the number of contributors per head of population for an area.

Partly due to the manner in which they have to be stored.

The Pfizer needing lower temperature storage facilities seems to be mainly used at the large centres while the easier to handle AZ  seems to be used at smaller places. That's how it worked with me as I went to a pharmacy and had AZ while several neighbours had Pfizer at the main centre.

Yes, but why split married couples/partners between Pfizer/AZ vaccines especially when registered with the same GP practice.
