Quick question. Does the model come with any dummy couplers that reflect the prototype? If not has anyone any suggestions on a product to use? Thanks.

"Refreshed several times up until its final withdrawal in 1994 its livery subtly changed each time and our model represents the classic Network SouthEast 1988-91 period with full-length orange cantrail stripe."
Wasn't the full orange stripe added early 1986? So what livery tweak makes this right for 1988-91?

Anyone else feeling the same? Is this era of mid-late 90s one that could really take off in the coming years as a nostalgic one?
Definately Fran. Look at this picture I took at Warrington Arpley in February 1998 just before the 66 invasion. I count at least 19 different locos in as many colours as you can imagine. As usual I didn't realise it at the time but this really was the end of the glory days of first generation diesel & electric traction and a fantastic era to model.

Anyone know why these units were renumbered from the 143 0XX series to 143 6XX in the early 1990s?

Did post this in the Dcc fitting forum too but does anyone know of a guide on how to fit a decoder to this model, took the body off and don’t know where to start!
Thanks in advance

I've found this link very good - https://www.modernimageogauge.co.uk/crompton.html. Not a class 31 however the principles are the same.

For anyone still looking for these at a fair price, I know Gaugemaster are still working through their pre-orders and may have some surplus as I for one will not be taking my allocation with them as I have more than enough from other retailers following the twin pack revelation.

I'm sure given the high demand this won't be the last time ever that Hornby reintroduce Drax Biomass Wagons Packs , another run possibly in the next five years. Given the high demand there is for them? That would stop the high prices of £300 - £400 plus, that are currently being asked for them. That was what Simon said about The Clan class locomotives.
If there was another run it would be nice to have some in their original livery with Northern Powerhouse decals as they still run in mixed rakes today (recent picture from Flickr).

If anyone has the original release drax wagons and the new version - is there a difference in weight?
I had my hands (on a weekend loan) on a couple of the originals and they were very light and would try to derail at any opportunity.
I don't have any of the first release to compare but the new ones are very light IMHO so it's hard to imagine them being even lighter orignally. If there are problems I would hope it will be fairly straight forward to add some additional weight given the central hollow fully enclosed shell however.

There certainly seem to be “a few more” available than I was expecting. I’ve ended up ordering 10 packs spread across four different retailers! Hopefully all me orders can be fulfilled and I look forward to receiving them.Demand does seem to still be outstripping supply however. All of the Kernow's available models went overnight.

We recommend the ESU lokpilot v5. We hope to have some ‘ready to install’ in stock shortly if it helps but any good 6 function decoder (ideally with stay alive support) will work well. All Of the integrated circuits to manage the pantographs are built into the PCB on board so the decoder doesn’t have to do anything clever.I ordered a couple of production 59619 ESU Lokpilot v5 decoders before you announced your own Class 92 'ready to install' versions. What settings do I need to change to these decoders to make them ready for the class 92? Thanks.

First job was to lower the exhaust, it's not glued and can be easily removed. I cut it up and sanded a good amount of material away from the base before gluing the mounting brackets back together and refitting.
Thanks Richard. Did you take any pictures or video of the mod?

Yes, the Gaugemaster 100MO is fine with Heljan locos as it is good for 5amps. I did some tests on my Heljan locos which I shared on my Peasevern Yard thread but in essence, the small shunters such as the class 03 draw less than 1 amp, but the stall current of the larger bogie diesels were up near 3+amps so still well within the capability of the 100MO
Sorry can please just check this? The spec for the Gaugemaster 100MO says they have a rated output of 2.5 amps so are they really suitable for large Heljan locos?

Who will be first to find a way of lowering the silencer to the correct height?

One of the most common additional fitments to 350hp shunters were aerials for radio-telephones. Every location where such a facility existed seems to have used a fitment that was specific to that location only, which, since these are all Cardiff Canton allocated locos, would seem to strongly suggest that that was what these were.
Thanks. They look like brackets for temporarily holding something which could well have been some sort of aerial or flashing light for working in an industrial complex?
Here is a picture (again off Flickr) of D3257 (08188) before the bracket was fitted but clearly carring an aerial in a similar location.

Slight correction to your master list in the first post. The 1999/2000 Claye wagon was numbered 37-175 and not 37-175Z see:

A detail to note on those pictures posted by @Lyddrail, later on the numbers were on a white rectangle. There were issues with either the axles or the bearings and the fleet was stopped, they gained the white backed numbers once modified.

Picture taken at Old Oak Common in March 1995. Presumably the long rakes of ARC wagons in the background are those stored after the issues experienced?
By the way, when Dapol say 'ARC Olive & Grey' livery I assume they mean the original ARC 'Mustard' livery?

They look great. Hopefully they will do some 00 versions in the future too.

86260 in Anglian seems a strange choice as it only wore the livery for around a year before withdrawal?
Bit more research: Painted into Anglian livery November 2003, entered service with Anglian February 2004 and stored, not to return to Anglian service, in October 2004.

Unless the picture is over-exposed, it looks like Dapol have made the same error again with the Intercity 73, painting the executive grey as white on the lower bodyside.
Pictures from the Rails of Sheffield website; the enlarged ones have pasted as pictures rather than links.

Intercity livery looks OK to me compared to this. What am I missing?

Is it oversized, or just positioned high.
Fair point.

I spoke with one of the Dapol team on Saturday regarding the 59's on show, and they confirmed they were in fact production models on display.
Did you get the opportunity to ask about the oversized silencers? Ruining the overall look of the model for me unfortunately.

Perfect, thank you. I also found them available at some retailers.
