  1. Hi I bought it on the Steam Website / application, http://store.steampowered.com while it was on sale so it only cost me £3.99. For someone like me it gives a good glimse at what an Engine driver sees and also the scenery is authentic so it provides some tips. I like it, BUT all the add ons for new trains and scenery could get very expensive if you get bored of the ones provided.
  2. So... Got myself a copy of 2014 railway simulator. Not sure how realistic it is and do not understand a lot of it, but it is interesting being let out on the mainline with no training . Took a 166 in nse for a run from st pancras to Chatham, well that was the plan. Was getting bored at the 80 mph limit, so was using the helecopter view and showing jaz, ...".............. Who put that blooming 395 there.... Ooops!
  3. Thanks Mick, So.... Half brake second opens would be ok? And would nse or regional railways have b4 s, i have some of those.
  4. So... Having picked up a bunch of Peter Harvey's etches inculding the arlington translater coaches, i have started to have a look at what is what. However, i need tO source some Bachmann mk1 standard open coaches with b4 bogies. That said it does not seem easy to identify which models meet that requirment..., but anyway due to the fact they are always mAde in the wrong quantities, very few seem to be available. But...... What i cannot see from the limited pictures i see, is what the difference there is between any of the full length mark 1's other than the bogies, and the bit which will be replaced... The sides. So.... Why can i not just use any long. Mk1. With b4 bogies and corridors? I have stacks of mk1 half and full brakes i got cheap. Answers on a postcard please..... Then digitise it and post here to AV
  5. I read with Dismay that the case of Sergeant Alexander Blackman Royal Marines has been refused a review by the Supreme court. I always thought the principle ofEnglish law was to be tried by your peers. I understand peers to mean those that have the same life experiences. How can a person be judged by those that have no idea what the conditions in which a person acts are like. Miscarrage of justice if you ask me.... Is he Guilty.... we will never know because he has never been judged in a fair manner. My heartfelt views. Anyway .. no disrespect to the Sgt Blackman, but better get back on topic.
  6. Blimey. This is what i love about RM, so many knowledgeable people. Thank you all Ps.... As an after thought.... RM should do a finance site, we would all be millyunaires in 12 months
  7. Groan, don't encourage her Terry, .... I have to keep moving all day or else i end up covered in graffiti !
  8. I think you got it spot on, we bought them when we had no idea about anything to do with railways, and rather than flog them for nothing thought they provide good learning medium. I practiced, cut and shut nem pockets, adding new wheels, adding resistor sets to wheels and priming with a spray can. So they have all ready paid the tenner i paid for the five of them. Not sure i know much more these days, but tend to look at what the real ones do, before i buy these days Thanks for the info, at least if we replace them with something more authentic we will have learnt a bit on the way on something disposable.
  9. Wowzer, really starting look the biz, love the signs they just bring it all to life. Spot on dt
  10. Thanks Mate, yep gonna sort through, there has been a few things arrived over the last 6 weeks, that have not even left their boxes, so after I finish clearing a space and finding my tools etc, i shall start adding some stuff. The insulation is slowly progressing, but ...while it is cooler up there, the air quality in the old loft is not the best. I will get around to a velux or two, but also I have an aircon to fit so that should improve things a lot. I have half been waiting a little on getting the fiddle yards done in the old loft. I hate taking things in and out of boxes, I really want to be able to put them on and leave them on the layout unless I am servicing or improving them. So that has stifled my passion bit. Jaz has cleared up my control desk upstairs now, so I am running out of excuses to switch it all on and start profiling some more trains.
  11. A very enjoyable day, helps me getting back into the groove

  15. Er nope, not sure where it is, jaz has mentioned it but not Found it yet
  16. So..... What have i missed? Just had to wade through 5 pages, hadn't realised it was so long since i had been on here. All work and computers at the moment
  17. Hi And welcome. I expect you will cover a few pages, from all those that follow you on utube. Nice to see you here too.
  18. Were back! BT have put in a temporary Emergency fix and only took 2 and a half weeks. I wonder how long a none emergency fix takes?
  19. BT now saying earliest post will be replaced is 18th June. I will not hold my breath
  20. Unfortunately Ofcom are not really interested, they are a talking shop of never have beens, that spend time thinking up stupid ideas but never really delivering anything. They have palmed off all consumer issues to two toothless monkey organisations for fix line operations who carry on a charade of ombudsmen, but frankly are of little use other than getting you a few quid of line rental refunded. Ofcom have caused the current problem by separating them from BT in the misguided hope that it would put other providers on the same par as BT Well it did, now open reach are as crap with BT as every other provider, but now have NO accountability. Only plus is that in the next few years as LTE takes off, fixed lines will die a death and Openreach with them. Good riddance!
  21. Had a a call from the chairmans office at BT today expessing concern and informing me that they had raised the issue with the executive at Openreach. Not sure if it will speed things up, but from the feedback from others, it can often be weeks or longer especially when it is a rural outage. With just 6 homes affected, I expect they thought nobody would have much to say. After 30 years in telecoms with a number of the major players, i have to say i find their operations very poor. They are a customer of my company, although not one of the larger ones, but if we had delivered to them commercially, as they have delivered to me personally, they would have raised the roof, and rightly so.
  22. Extract from insurance claim.... I had been driving for 42 years when i fell asleep at the wheel which caused me to turn into the wrong driveway and hit a telegraph pole I didn't have. I had to swerve 3 times before i finally managed to hit the pole, and at that point mentioned to my dog Toto, that i didn't think we were in Kansas any more
  23. I have managed to get 4 bars but still only GPRS on my mobile and with my ipad tethered, i can get limited viewing and small replies. Thank you all for your posts, and pictures, i will respond individually when we get something more usable in respect of bandwidth, but for now accept my thanks in brief. Those lineside pics are JiT.......just in time, they fit with what we are doing while offline so, spot on ess1uk. I can read in reason, as long as i do not try to swap threads to much and use the mobile version of RM web. It is limited but very welcome.
  24. Nope Wires at the futhest pole were too short to use, so unless i tore the cable down to he next pole, i am stuck. On a positive note, i got a reply back from my email to the CEO. A very nice lady from BT executive rang me back and saif that was now being discussed at the ET level and that she would be insuring this is resolved from the top down. So we shall see.
  25. Thanks all And please feel free, it brightens up are present lack of connection. Gprs is ok for the icons if the wind is in the right direction, but it takes about 10 minutes to load a page Seems slightly better late night, but during the day i cannot even load a page. Anyway i have told BT if they did not fix today i would wire it up myself, so tomorrow i will be trying to find enough cable and a ladder to do just that
