  1. Oooh, more Siphons. We can never get enough of those. Amazing what a difference your gangways make, looks great.

Interesting about the crepe paper. Does the paint stick well to it? I'm looking for ways to make covers for horse drawn vehicles, so need that partially rumpled, partially smooth look.

I used paper handkerchiefs, just one layer, for the roofs of closed vans. Glued it on with PVA and painted it with acrylic paints. Worked well.

In this case you have a white paper in stead of a colored one.  Crepe paper, that is colored, can be messy.

I don't know what kind of crepe paper gwrrob used.

  2. This one is also waiting by me to used in one of my diorama's.

I have already looked for pictures, but could only find some black and white ones.

You can create your one "gwrrob" livery. That never can be wrong I believe.

  3. Hi Mikkel

The horse and dray are from Dart Castings, there are a variety of horse and carts.

The castings are very good, little flash and the cart goes together very easily.

Why doesn't this surprise me ?

  4. Not at all, Rob, I agree it's good to have a particular timeframe. And your 1947 period is one of the reasons I'd like to set "the sidings" in 1947.

I was really only wondering if you happened to have some clerestories or similar lying around, so we could pretend CoT was in 1904 condition and see it on Brent with an "Edwardian" train. But easy for me to say :-)

I agree about a particular timeframe.

Personally I like the change of a period.

  5. Hi Jules,

Lovely branch line. A lot of nice modeling.

There are some brilliant pictures which capture the atmosphere of the layout.

Will follow the future development with interest.

  6. I looked again to your picture and used Google to find some information about Broad Gauge railways.

Then I found this interesting picture of Swindon. I think it is a small loco shed with a water tower. I think if it is possible, it would create a great scene and a purpose for your sidings.

I found the picture here http://www.flickr.com/photos/johnmightycat/6816512500/sizes/h/in/photostream/

  7. This awful bit of Photoshopping shows what I think will be the track layout. There isn't room for anything else! All I think I could do is put a building or a clump of trees where the X is, but that would block the view of the station. Its unlikely there would be trees on railway land.

I think the curtain behind the bridge is worth a try, and I could experiment with mirrors. Or maybe a combination! This is the widest access to a fiddle yard I've ever made, and the smallest space to disguise it!

What is purpose of the siding?

On the place of the cross you could create a low embankment, with a fence for the railway border. Maybe some sheep in front.

I like those nice little locomotives.

    regards,

    Job

  8. I looked at your layout.

Have you tried to set up a half relief building in the front, for instance a small factory or warehouse. You could model the inside.

An other possibility could be a wall with some trees and bushes in front of it.

Would create a nice view block at the front of the layout.

You could try this out with muck ups.

    Regards,

    Job

  9. Nice to see that your back on the web.

    Still looks great to me.

With a smaller layout you also have the possibility to spend more attention to detailing.

I like to mention in this case the Farthing layout(s).

    Regards,

    Job
