  2. Anyone know of an exhibition to be held in Arundel on the 16th June?

Heard about it on the grapevine, but have seen no advertising.

Understand a couple of layouts locally have been invited.

    Brian

Look on UK Model Shops - DD Exhibitions has organised one.

  3. Just about ready for Saturday. The team will be in the College tomorrow afternoon marking out ready for the early arrivals. Hope to see RMWebbers at the show, make yourselves known - I shall be one of those dressed in yellow Rotary tabards.

Have a few spaces left for the 2019 show if you have a layout and would like to come; just let me have the details.

  4. Rotarail 2018 will be held at Fareham College, Bishopfield Road, Fareham, PO14 1NH on Saturday 28 April from 1030 - 1700. This is a charity event organised by the Rotary Club of Fareham in association with Fareham College with all profits going to "Flat Spaces". There is ample free on-site parking, an excellent restaurant with both hot and cold food, and is fully disabled friendly. Admission costs are £6 for adults (no concessions) and children (5-16) £2.

There will be a "Children's Corner" layout for them to operate outside the restaurant provided by Fareham & District Model Railway Club. Also outside the restaurant, Elliott Cowton from the local Model Railway Club will  primarily be demonstrating the creation of model buildings from plastic sheeting.  Today's project is the creation of two identical signal boxes, one for Club layout NIctun Borrud and one for a new layout he is building that represents the same location as it would have appeared when the station was built during WW2.  BOTH NOW IN MAIN HALL

  5. Well it looks like we have a Cunning Plan -  and so far it seems to be working well......          To be fair it was never going to be easy to fit a 5 foot long section that slides in and out - yet lines up perfectly every time ......   but ;   Mike came up with this arrangement at each end of the Gap ;attachicon.gif20180315_173043.jpg

    attachicon.gif20180315_173048.jpg

    And added CLS ' Rails' to each end of the board ;

    attachicon.gif20180315_173052.jpg

And so far it slides in and out just fine,  and has lined up perfectly - even had an HST running through for the first time in a very long time.

    attachicon.gif20180314_194735.jpg

We just need to rework the rolling 'cradle' to hold the board on when it comes out - but that's this Wednesdays challenge  :O   And then I can crack on with the rest of the scenery and hopefully adding some greenery at last  (And just a bucket or two of ballast :sarcastichand: )

So a HUGE thank you to Mike for coping well with with all  my 'challenges',   and for the ongoing support.  You couldn't want a better man in your corner.

Hopefully this isn't holding up Oak Road too much -  we WILL be ready for Rotarail (Honest, Chris !) :declare:

Just catching up with progress now that you are "back at work" - with Crofton anyway! Really glad that you are recovering well and the layout is progressing very well. Keep Mike's nose to the grindstone with Oak Road - it's only 5 weeks to Rotarail!

  6. I thought I'd post a few pictures I took yesterday evening to give an idea of how the station arrangement works, and until the buildings and footbridge are finished, I can't really do much else to this particular area.

    attachicon.gifStation Two.jpg

It'll be nice to have this finished for RotaRail although I must admit, at one point, I had an idea to make the station disused and over grown - the disadvantage being there wouldn't be anywhere to run the 150s

I think it would be nice to have it finished for Rotarail!! You are doing a grand job Mike - keep up the good work.

  7. This year's show seems to be suffering from a certain degree of neglect. The club hasn't posted on here, their UK Model Shop's entry doesn't include any info on layouts or traders and it's website doesn't bother to tell the potential visitor what scale or gauge the advertised layouts conform to. There is just a bare listing.

I'm wondering whether to go, there is another show at St Neots.

The choice is clearly yours to make.
