  1. We have started to collect the bigger and heavier equipment for the show, ready for us to start setting up this afternoon/evening.  To all the exhibitors, traders and demonstrators coming to us, have a safe journey and we look forward to seeing you this evening/tomorrow morning.

    Colin

Car all packed and setting off after lunch. See you later.

  2. Well I may have not done much to the layout but at least I've got a bit more stuff to run on it now!

The DRS short set is back together and again, whilst it's not the best example of how to respray stuff, it'll do for now. I've never been one for painting models so as with the layout, this is a first for me too.....and it's taken me around 5 months to get them done!

I've now got three 37/4s that can be used on a variety of trains so all I need to do now is sort out the 150/2 and the 158 and I'll have some decent stock to run at Rotarail next year  :good:

I've also been busy adding a few hundred brake discs to my large collection of MK3s and trying to finish off my BSO for the sleeper set.

Dave's loaned me his chop saw so I've been cracking on with the legs and hopefully, I'll get the whole layout up for the Christmas break and then I can start track laying proper for the fiddle yard.

With my personal life taking a bit more of a priority at present, I'm not aiming to get the scenery 100% complete for the first show but to the average person watching the trains go by, it'll look convincing enough.

Rotarail is just over 4 months away Mike so crack on although I know you have a personal life too! I'm banking on you.

    Chris

  3. Hi Please pass on my best Wishes to Dave, and hope he bounces back soon. I know exactly how he feels having had a number of strokes myself. Sounds like he's got a good fiend with you and that will certainly help

    Regards,

    Steve

Give my regards to Dave - it was a pleasure operating with him at Fareham - at least he wasn't grumpy! I can loan you some GWR panniers plus wagons for Worthing - you only have to ask!!!!  Stop being so self-critical and get Oak Road finished for Rotarail.

    Chris

  4. Had a bit of bad news today as the workshop's been let so I need to vacate by Thursday.....It's not the end of the world as I've got it running, it's just a bit of an inconvenience.

Progress has been really slow due to personal reasons but I've got a bit more done on the Ansford Road bridge board. Here's the farm bridge taking shape..

    attachicon.gifFarm Bridge.jpg

...ignore the fact that its a little out of square. It'll do for the show!

And here's how it looks alongside the other bridge...

More progress on the main bridge too....

I'm going to spend a week on this board and then tidy everything up so it looks presentable. The new deadline is Fareham RotaRail 2018!

I think that you are being over critical of yourself Mike. It's looking great and looking forward to seeing Oak Road "in the "flesh". It'll be brilliant by the time of Rotarail on 28 April 2018 (www.rotarail.webs.com)

  5. Most of the layouts and trade stands seem to be there:

    http://exemrs.co.uk/2017-show/

Incidentally does anyone have a contact for David Smith Books who are listed as an exhibitor?

The David Smith Books that I know is on 01425483200 and is from Ringwood.

Regrettably, "most of the layouts" is not all and doesn't answer my question.

  6. The new EXE Model Railway Society website is now online at www.exemrs.co.uk

Same as before but now revamped with new web manager.

    Regards.

    Kev

Good to see the new website up and running. Shame that all the layouts appearing at this year's exhibition are still not listed though. I have been assured that CAMLAS is expected but it is not shown on the website or UK Model Shops.

  7. It's been a while since the last Loftus Road update, especially with Christmas in between!

Work hasn't stopped however, great stride have been made by the gang in terms of electrical updates and some great ideas on layout presentation which should transform how the layout will appear at shows going forward.

In the meantime, I've been playing around and adding a few scenic cameos (yet to be finished!) but thought I'd share a few newer photos for a bit of fun!

Adding a splash of colour to Loftus Road, our signature Silverlink livery graces the Bachmann 150/1 in this 4-car lash up above.

Meanwhile above, work continues on the residential streets to the left of the layout, some street detailing in progress before all the vehicles are permanently glued in their final positions.

Finally, viewers of my Workbench 'sister thread' will know that I've been wasting much of last year messing around with HAA coal hoppers to create a classic MGR power station train for my future late-90s Didcot Parkway layout, I've now got to a stage where I have a near-trainload to run!

Although not yet a complete rake, 28 loaded HAA hoppers fills a fair part of Loftus Road and makes for an imposing sight!

We'll be sure to report on the next scenic cameo additions as they take shape in the lead up to our next show at 'Rotarail' in Fareham on April 22nd, 2017, hopefully see some of you there!

    Cheers,

    James

As exhibition manager for Rotarail, i am looking forward to seeing Loftus Road at our show. It's been a favourite for some time. Hope you all will come, there are some other fine layouts on show.
