    Right now, 50 years ago, the last ever passenger service is leaving Southport before the closure of the old South Coast Line that ran to the Gold Coast. This year also marks 125 years since the line first opened, on January 25, 1889.

      Southeast QLD's Dr. Beeching was Wilbur Smith and Associates with their 1965 "Brisbane Transportation Study".
