  1. Good morning ladies and gentlemen, thought I would be the first to post on this Sunday morning although the truth is that I am only just going to bed! An evening of ironies? Went on the real ale train on the watercress line diesel hauled because of the recent heat wave, and it rained. Connecting SWT train from Alton at the end of the evening had no working toilets on board. Made me smile! :-)

  2. There's a moral in there somewhere - sorting of linking 'something' with the need to wear specs, hmm ... better stop there as this is a family programme before the watershed.

    safe specs?

Sorry couldn't resist it, I'll get me coat!

  3. Toploader, eh? Sounds like the washers of bygone days.

Top loaders make far more sense, you are putting the load onto two bearings rather than just one as in front loaders. it is the lack of space in uk houses that seems restrict their use as they do take a little more space and you can't put them under a work surface of course.

  4. I reckon he's approaching 50% total negative feedback, definitely not to be trusted.

IMHO E-bay should strike him down.

    Keith

If he is struck off e-bay can he start again with a different identity?  If so would it be better to leave him there with negative feedback, at least anybody who deals with him can be forewarned?  I don,t know too much about e-bay so apologies if I have misunderstood.

  5. I'm up for 20 years this July - which has been better than a previous five years to SuperBitch....

    Best, Pete.

I had a super bitch too but will refrain from telling war stories. Been married to wife no 2 for 3 years after living together for 7. Even after 10 years I still very much look forward to coming home to her, unlike wife no 1 who after 10 years I couldn't wait to get away from!

  6. Is the zig zag railway still closed? Went there when we were in Australia about 6 years ago. We also went to the Hunter Valley Mining museum, unfortunately the steam failed just before departure and they replaced with a diesel. Was quite an interesting place if somewhat shabby and we met some great characters there.

  7.

I've often seen layouts with names that are almost correct for reality, thus suggesting the location but at once recognising it is not meant to be exact. one of the many ideas I have batting around in my head is to do a model of Looe Quay and call

I thinks my layout is a bit of all of the suggestions, so I think I'll tick option 2, and perhaps I'll have to show my layout on here and let the rmwebbers decide?

  8. Just out of curiosity, I thought I'd post this poll. I did look at previous polls and could not find one similar, but if I have erred in this regard then I apologise.

anyway, it's just a bit of fun.

it is multiple choice, so select all that apply.

I mean absolutely no disrespect to any type of layout, and fully appreciate that an Island of Sodor layout can be brilliant, while a model of an exact location may leave a lot to be desired, so please don't take this as some kind of hierarchy of modelling or something.

I'm just curious to see to what extent people torture themselves to fit reality into their modelling lives (as I'm finding it very difficult!) :D

Where do I tick? I am modelling am actual location where there was a railway, however I have re-written history. Is this a popular option amongst modellers?

I'm too am interested in the final results.

  9. It seems to have been raining for hours & no sign of stopping at the moment.

Raining for hours, I wish, feels like it's been raining for months here, perhaps you are experiencing summer? :-)

There used to be an expression that you could tell when it was summer as the rain was warmer, I guess warmer rain would be some progress?

  10.

!  Resprayed using the spray gun which came with the Electrolux vacuum cleaner (beat that Dyson) into a nice sort of eggshell finish the body was in good nick.

My first car was Morris 1800 which my father gave me when I was at college in about 1979. It had a foot operated headlamp dip switch on the floor, little bulb on the end of the indicator stalk and the speedo was a ribbon that went along the dashboard. Had to do some welding and bodywork for mot then hand painted various panels to make it all one colour. I later had a really old mini van with a push start on the floor. All locks completely worn and could operate with coins, screwdrivers etc. bought for £20 sold for £25. Happy days ;-)

  11. Well I won't be buying it, it only comes in a polystyrene tray.  If it had come from Cartmel they'd be offering:

THE MODEL IS SUPPLIED WITH A COMPLIMENTARY STORAGE / TRAVEL BOX

I like models like this, it makes my modest modelling skills look quite good!
