  1. I was interested to see in the chapter on model railways a healthy representation of vicars - a profession which seems fertile ground for railway enthusiasm. I wonder if contemporary vicars are keeping up this tradition - and (while hoping not to prompt sectarian rivalries) whether ministers of other denominations are as partial to trains as their CoE counterparts?
  2. Googling for a railway related question, I came across this site: www.railwaywondersoftheworld.com/ - recycling a railways part work from some 80 years ago. An enjoyable read in its own right (not that I've read all of it!) and an archive of railway history. (Apologies if this was already well known to everybody but me!).
  3. I was interested to read this - it appears to confirm what I figured to be the case: that to isolate a motor, it's only the armature/commutator/ brushes that need to be isolated as they have no electrical connection with the magnet/pole pieces etc, which sounds simple on those old Triang motors. (My first post here, btw, having recently become interested in model railways after 50 odd yeas away - things have changed a bit, haven't they!)
