  1. ..and don't forget that these display modules are a "gift" and absolves the utility company of any support what so ever.

(They are much more interested in your "data" than you actually being able to use "smart meters" in the way they claim that will reduce your energy usage and save the planet".)

Please keep us informed as to how you get on.

  2. In my experience, as a passenger, whenever we have "dumped fuel" we circle for ages at high altitude and then come into land. (It's a long slow process.)

This was always completed before then approaching, and descending, to land.

When I am at the airport, the strongest smell of aviation fuel is when the aircraft has completed loading and is being "pushed back" from the "air bridge". This is when the engines are started.

Otherwise, as jjb suggests, contact the environment agency.

Anyone else remember the Amstrad TP12 record deck from the 70s?  It had an ‘equiponderate tri-generate’ or something platter, a bit like propeller blades and useless for supporting a 12” record.

I bought one second-hand and used the solid veneered chipboard base to mount one of those Connisseur kit belt drive decks, using the original Amstrad SME-clone arm and an Ortofon cartridge, tracked reliably at 1.8g but sounded better at 2g.  An improvement on my precious Garrard belt drive.  It worked, rather well.

..but did it sound luxuriantly deeper with a richer reach and an enhanced reproductive tone quality?

  4. What a fantastic performance by the 'Millers'!

1-1 against Charlton - ok Charlton scored all the goals, but hey, the underdog's fans got something to cheer and they have earned a replay at home.

(Realistically, probably the best result they could have hoped for.)

    Well done lads.

This Whole episode has me fuming.

...and was completely unnecessary if only the policy originator had an once a micro-gram of common sense. (Yes I know, that’s why this got as far as it did – someone in power who is demonstrably detached from reality.)

What would have been the next saving? The removal of Disabled Ramps?! After all, hardly anyone (percentage wise of the population) uses them! Shakes head in disbelief again...

...and everyone here should try walking in another’s shoes before spouting how good something is, citing examples, of how you are competent/unaffected/better off.

The partially sighted, physically disabled, new customers passengers, dyslexic, incapable, occasional users, tourists, plus lots and lots of other groups – especially (but not least) the terminally bewildered (no shortage of them!) – all NEED human interaction.

(I count myself in at least 3 of the above categories, especially the last one!)

    Another example…

    https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/disability-67239870

...but no worries, the technology widely available – and most importantly – cheap to implement (little up front costs/investment/maintenance).

    Kev.

(I do apologies for being very grumpy this morning, and please don’t take this personally – it’s just me getting my morning rant off my chest.)

  6. Another 22Gbyte "update" to Fortnite, today, as a new chapter starts.

...and the "map" has gone all retro to when I first started playing - and was completely rubbish!

I can't wait to start playing - and putting all my highly honed killing skills into action!

Was in the Netherlands recently. Car driven into the underground car park at the hotel and stayed there, all travelling done by train/bus/tram. We bought all our train tickets via the NS app, using it to scan the barcodes at the barriers, and we used the tap on/tap off system on all the buses & trams.

Despite all this, there were still fully staffed ticket offices manned by both NS & local transport operators, and small one person information booths on the concourses. Both were well used.

I was in Amsterdam, a couple of months ago, and I did all my travel by Tram, Train and Taxi.

I could not buy tickets unless face-to-face.

When faced with machine (intelligence!!) problems - or tiny screens - I resort to taxis.

Next week I am in Berlin - I use day tickets from the m/c on the platform (Big screen).

The week after I am in Teltow - south of Berlin, so day tickets again.

Two weeks after that, Delft - Tram tickets bought in the Hotel reception.

  8. That's quite a loco selection there! (Winces a bit.)

I can see the attraction - just plonk and play, but I wouldn't discount the Peco range too quick. Some (a lot?) is older than the locos you quote.

Great if any kids are going to have a "hands on" approach to things (running, building shelters or other station "furniture.)

Just make sure that any paper/card isn't allowed to fade/curl up and I think you could be onto something here - save loads too.

    Good luck,

    Kev.

This one illustrates the roundabout nature of the industry, the PCC 'Morning Midas', operated by EUKOR. EUKOR is a consortium which was primarily set up to operate car carriers between the Republic of Korea and Europe (hence the name), but when you look at the consortium which includes Wallenius Wilhelmsen (WW) they are basically subsidiaries or JVs of WW. So it's basically a front for WW. Built in 2006 so not the youngest of ships.

You just need to cut a zillion rectangles, in uniform rows along the sides, and hey presto you now have a modern cruise ship!
