  1. E train detail pack photos soon, been putting plenty of effort into POP, but the pack is just about done, post pics when I have test painted the parts. :-)
  2. POPs first test run. My 3D printed POP1 takes to the rails for the very first time. Jobs to do: - One part base, Door window and cable detail to add. Pivot drawbar to design and test. Still look good for a kit based model for sale. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IYQ3D8hX9f0&feature=youtu.be Hope you enjoy, looks really good next to E train.
  3. 40 years ago yesterday at 10:48am, I re-visited the location I first saw e train, and started my interest with the APT project. Had to be done, at least this time I could see over the wall ok lol.
  4. Just being contact by this guy, really nice work. https://www.flickr.com/photos/141280199@N02/sets/72157667557779350 Just thought I'd share with the group. Paul
  5. Yes, the models I am doing are working 00 gauge to run along side with E train. Will be self build kits, so however wants one will be able to. Im just in process for designing the SA bogies for POP, should anybody want them to. The E trains detail kit is just about done to, pics to come on that. Paul APT-E Conservation & Support Group.
  6. Hopefully yes, POP1, POP2 under construction , early plans for HSFV1, Hastings, Testrol and Pilot. The model looks better in real life, pics make it look pretty rough for some reason.
  7. Been doing a bit more work on my POP train which will come in kit form, to go with APT-E, all 3D printed, not finshed yet, but getting there. Going to go stand next to the wall of the North car park at 10:48am, 11th June , 40 years since E train arrive at the NRM, and I saw her in that very spot for the first time. Paul APT-E Conservation & Support Group.
  8. LOL, now that has been suggested before the model even came out. Jason/Bill if you are reading, are there any scrap body shells kicking around, would love to have a go at this lol.
  9. LOL Kit, I will add them to the list, Trestrol, OH god help me!!!! Hastings, I am already in the early stages of doing the design work, need your help on it. Paul
  10. Many at the time within the NRM called us mad for taking on E train, with general low grade remarks about it being in the national collection, one high up person (renames nameless), said, and I quote "We will never see tilting trains in this country" and it should have never been built. LOL, I always remind said person when I see him about that quote. Hindsight is a wonderful thing, but its a good job I was there that day, or things would be very different now. Its so nice to hear people talking about the APT and starting to realise what a step forward it was, and how the media got it wrong. Thanks for the comments about the model and the real thing, always a joy to hear.
  11. Hi All, Just a bit of fun, been working on my POP train model, and just had to do this.......... APT story pretty much from start to finish, need to make an HSFV1 to complete the set, next job when POP1 and POP2 are finished. Paul APT-E Conservation & Support Group. Hope the photos work ok, never tried it before.
  12. Hi All, I have spent some time going through all my extensive E train material, official docs and so on, and have found that the paint ordered for E train was from Wilkinsons of Rotherham, internal code R478, so the one thing we can now say for sure is, she isn't BR blue. When the train was repainted in 2002/3 we had to use a close match as the exact mix for R478 had been lost in time, so Wilkinsons supplied us with the very nearest colour match of the train at the time, although slightly darker to take into account may years of fade. Id like to say, Ive added that to the mix, but that would be a pun lol. Paul
  13. Hi All, Over the 16 or so years I have been connected with E train, I can say, that the old girl does seem to change colour a fair bit from day to day, the paint used was matched to the colour on PC2, if like me, some days you might find it greener than on other days, all I can say it WOW. I never thought I would see the day an 00 E train would be released and I am so pleased that you are all liking the final results. Should be up at Shildon working on the real thing this weekend, so if anyone wants a tour, drop by and say hi. Oh just for the record, E train was never classed as official BR blue. 14. Hi All, Over the next few weeks (time willing) to a month, I will be putting out the APT-E expansion kit, speed probe, module steps, tilt system active sign, 4mm Mr tilt and team and if I can get its design finished in time, a handling dolly, plus the required for all E train movements, an oil lamp. Watch this space. Paul APT-E Conservation & Support Group.
  15. All looks good in the packaging, and the book looks very impressive, larger than I thought it was going to be.... All we need now are the models delivered, cannot wait, still hard to believe that a model of the train is finally going to happen. Being part of the team to produce the model, I still thought I would never see the day, a massive thanks must go to Jason, Bill, Dan and the rest of the rapido team for involving the APT-E group in the model creation. Paul
  16. Thanks Andy, I will not take it any further for the moment, lets get back to E train and the model. But I will keep them for now in case of any more trouble.
  17. Ive upload the video to Youtube, and it seems to have worked ok, with sound this time. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VTvkjXLqq7E I really really hope this link works, please, please, please!!! LOL, last chance.
