News hot off the press We have been commissioned to make some 4mm wagons that can be built as OO or EM. The first wagons in the new range will be: LYR/LMS/BR 1plank/Bolster; LYR/LMS 7plank loco coal/double ended coal wagon and a 7 plank open that can be built as a side door only or side and end door. The latter kit can be LBSCR/SECR/GNR/NER/W^D/SR/LNER/BR as well as private owner wagons.
These kits will be available around February time. If these kits sell then we will be looking to expand the range inline with our 7mm range.

A few photos of some of the ready to run wagons that I have been busy building for a number of customers in the last few weeks. 12 wagons in total 2x SDJR 20ton Brakes, 4 North British wagons, 1x MR tanker, 1x MR Tariff Van, 1x SDJR Road Van, 1x G&SWR Box Van 1x GER Box Van 1x GER vent Van. Only two Locos to do before Christmas.
Some photos of our latest 7mm (0n18/0-9) narrow gauge layout Crackpot Mining, that made its debut at the Workington Model Railway Show this morning.
set in the 1950/60's in the Yorkshire valley of Swaledale. the Layout was built in just over a week using Peco 009 track and an IKEA APA toy box.
Being forced to take things a little easy this week has allowed me to catch up on a few kits which I have been putting of finishing.
Firstly I have managed to add the transfers to one of our latest kits. The NER/LNER/BR P4 hopper, it went to Telford unpainted and now looks pretty good full painted and lettered. Even if I do say so.
Next on the list was HR/LMS/BR Loco Coal wagon. This one had missed out on Telford as I ran out of time. Not a hard task to finish as it just needed the axle guards, wheels and couplings to be fitted and the transfers adding.
Finally something for me it doesn’t happen that often. Two Telford’s ago I bought a Roxey Mouldings SECR/CR 0-4-0 Crane Tank and things got in the way of building it. The kit is mainly white metal so the hardest parts so far has been cleaning up the small etch and taking some flash off the white metal castings. With the top just requiring a few bits of wire adding and the cab roof fitting, it’s going to make an interesting addition.
Three more wagons are now in the range and are available as both kits and ready to run to order.
The first wagon is a Caledonian/Highland Railway open sheep wagon. These wagons were standard open wagons that were fitted with extension raves to stop the sheep jumping out.
The next wagon is a GWR Mica B refrigerated meat van.
The third wagon is a North British 4 plank open wagon the kit for this wagon will build three different wagons a fixed side, a drop side or a centre door (shown).
As a number of people have e-mailed me in the last few days asking for more pictures of our new Highland, Caledonian, North Sunderland and North British railway coaches.
Please note we now only have 3 coaches left from the second production run.
At Gauge O Guild Telford we had on show the prototypes of our new Highland Railway Rib sided coaches. The coaches are now available. There are 3 kits are an All 3rd, an 2nd/3rd Composite and a 1st/2nd Composite. A passenger brake van will be add to the range next year.

GOG GulidEx Telford
Workington MRC November Demonstrating kit building
Since the last time I added anything we have been a little busy. We have 3 new wagon kits(see Below) and we have been designing the next batch of new kits.
FRWC60 S&DJR/LSWR/Midland Railway/LMS/SR 8ton 2 Plank open Wagon
Between 1898 and 1912 the Somerset & Dorset Joint Railway committee build over 43 2 plank open wagons for use in the movement of general goods. These wagons were original built with fixed sides and rated at 8 tons but after 1904 they were built with a centre drop door in each side and some were up rated to 10 tons.
In 1914 all of the S&DJR’s revenue earning wagons were split between evenly the Midland and the LSWR. All departmental stock was retained in S&DJR livery until 1930. Most of the wagons that were allocated to the Midland and LSWR would have been absorbed into the LMS or the SR. A few of these wagons lasted into early British Railways.
FRWC61 NER/LNER/PO/BR R2-R4 10ton Coke hopper
This kit represents a R2/R4 Coke hopper wagon built for the North Eastern Railway’s Central Division between 1893 and 1910. These wagons were a direct descendent of the Stockton and Darlington Railway’s 8ton coal hopper and were basically a NER central division P5 hopper with extra planks added to the top. The R2 having 2 planks and the R4 having 3 extra planks.
From 1905 the number of R4’s were drastically reduced as they were either rebuilt into R2’s by having the top rave removed or sold off in to private ownership either to Gas, Chemical or Coke works around the north of England and southern Scotland.
All of the R4s had gone before 1923 with over 100 of R2’s passed into the LNER’s stock with a few living long enough in private hands to reach nationalisation in 1947.
FRWC62 NER/LNER/BR Q1 Loco Coal/High Goods
These wagons were built in batches by the NER, between 1880 and 1900, for the sole purpose of delivering locomotive coal to the company’s locomotive depots. As larger capacity wagons were built for this purpose the smaller capacity Q1 wagons were, on the whole, surplus to requirement.
Most of the Q1’s were still not even 10 years old so the NER put them to work as “High goods†wagons a role that they were well suited. Later in life these wagons came back into service stock are again they were replaced by larger capacity wagons.
A large number of these wagon passed to the LNER in 1923 a few were still in service as loco coal wagons but the majority were in the high goods role. By 1947 there were only 2 of these wagons left in departmental stock.
The next wagons will be:-
S&DJR/LMS/BR 20 Ton 6-wheel Brake Van
NER/LNER/BR C2 4 plank
SECR/W^D/SR/BR 4 plank dropside
Rhymney Railway/GWR 4 plank
GNoSR/LNER/BR 17 Ton Brake van
LYR/LMS/BR Gunpowder Van
LYR/W^D/LMS/BR 1 plank
LYR/W^D/LMS/BR Single Bolster
These should all be ready for the Gauge 0 Guild's GuildEX2012 in September
Since last writing something I have been a bit busy getting the new range of wagon kits ready for the first show of the year in June. With most of the engineering work complete I am now turning to the pleasurable part building the prototypes.
June's new kits are:-
NER R2 and R4 Coke wagons. These are based on our popular NER P5 coal hopper that came out some years ago.
NER Q1 Loco coal/High Goods
LYR Gunpowder Van
Rhymney Railway 4 plank open/Loco Coal
S&DJR 2 Plank Open
September's new kits are:-
GNoSR 10ton Brake
S&DJR 20ton 6-Wheel Brake
NER C2 4 Plank Open
L&YR Dia.1 1 Plank Open
L&YR Dia.36A Single Bolster
HR/North Sunderland Rly 4-wheel all 3rd Coach
NER H1 0-6-0 Crane Tank
I will post photos of the prototypes as soon as I have finshed them
We will be attending the following exibitions this year
GOG Halifax June 2nd Stand only
GuildEx 12 (GOG Telford) September Stand only
Barrow-in-Furness Model Railway Exibition October 14-15 Layout only
Workington Model Railway Exibition November Layout and stand
In the last few months I have managed to finish off a number wagons that have been meening to finish for a while.
A Powsides coke wagon, a Slaters NER P7 hopper and a Slaters BR 20t brake van.
We have now been been invited to two exhibitions as a layout rather than a manufacturer so work has started on turning our basic stand into a layout fit for a show.
Also most of the Wagons for this year's production have been designed and the patterns have been made and its only February.
