  1. The Current Plan is to have a twin track Mainline, running the full perimeter of the loft, at an upper level at the back of the layout with some parts hidden so that the Preserved line remains the focal point. The Preserved line will be an end-to-end layout along 3 sides with a 3rd station in the middle with passing loop. There will be a mainline connection somewhere to allow specials to travel onto the Preserved line. I am using Peco Code 55 Finescale track for realism, all points will be electrofrog and i will use Cobalt IP Analog point motors.
  2. I have managed to fit baseboards down 1 side and accross most of the back side so far. I will post more photos later to show where i am up to and what my Plan for Station 1 will be
  3. Here are some pics of the Loft as it was being prepared
  4. I will be adding some of the photos i have taken of the first part of construction over the next few days Stay tuned
  5. Hi All, I got into N Gauge over 20 years ago at the age of 14 as space was a restriction in our household. Since then i have amassed a large collection of Loco's and rolling stock and i have had a couple of basic layouts which I lost in the Floods of 2014. I have not really had anywhere to run my trains until now. I am now a home owner with a very generous loft space to work with. I have always loved going to Preserved Railways and it has always been my ambition to build a Fictitious Preserved Railway Layout somewhere, possibly with a mainline connection for specials, with as much creative license as i like. I have recently begun my adventure and I would like to share it with you. I am an engineer by trade with an understanding for most things but i am a novice when it comes to wiring and layout building. Fingers crossed i can produce something that i can be proud of.
  6. Hi Richard, I find your videos such a great watch, i get a lot of inspiration, tips and ideas from what you do. I always find myself wanting to see more and looking forward to the next one. When my loft has had the same treatment as yours (5th-8th March) i will be embarking upon my own new layout, although in a different scale, era and style. When that starts I will be watching your videos all over again and using many of the techniques that you have demonstated on Everard Junction. Exciting times, Thank you for posting and inspiring, Rich
  7. When i finally complete my loft project i will be creating 2 layouts in one. I want to have a double track loop around the loft with 1 main station which will allow continuous running, just to enjoy seeing my trains run, and then from the main station there will be a single branchline, with stations and passing loops, running around 3 sides of the loft with a terminus at the other end. Hoping for 2 track levels splitting at the station, Mainline upper and Branchline lower. The reasons behind this is i can run the layout in 2 modes. 1. Steam era mainline and branchline for just running trains and enjoying the operation of the branchline. 2. Modern day mainline running Steam specials (or the odd modern era train) which has the ability to run onto the branchline which will be a preserved steam railway. Should give all sorts of variety and interest in loco's, stock and operation.
  8. I opted for the 1990's version and had Mercig Studios do the respray and detailing for me. Its a beautiful model depicted Sir Nigel Gresley in a run down preservation state
  9. Hi Dave, I would like all 3 Preserved Kings so 6024 KE1 would be my preference for one of the other models, maybe done in the Great Western Lined Green ? I hope this crowd funder works out, Rich
