You can actually remove the 'gearbox' - it's really only there to add some weight to the model and the loco will still run fine - I've done it with a few of mine and they run ok. If you undo the two screws nearest you on the side of the 'gearbox' in the last photo it should just lift off if I remember correctly? Like the look of what you've done with the Ertl stepney - am off to raid the boxes from my childhood to see if I've got one to do the same with!

Ooh this is most excellent news! There will no doubt be several that end up on my workbench when they arrive. I see they are releasing the China Clay twins as well, I predict there will be a flurry of Port of Par layouts being built in the next few months

Hi Ken,
The Park tank looks rather good, they have such a rugged charm about them its almost impossible not to like them!
What couplings are you using by the way? And how easy are they to fit and use? Am thinking of using some sort of auto-coupling on my layout, instead of 3-links as I'm beginning to find them a bit too fiddly!

Hi Pete, glad to see you've carried on with the layout - love the idea of using the Lack shelves from Ikea - very ingenious. I shall be following this topic with interest
Cheers,
