  1. It's been a while since the last update........I've not acheived much except removing the preserved line station on the fiddle yard side of the layout. I needed to reduce the width as I needed more sidings for the main line. I've now increased these to 12 through sidings and I'm also fitting two isolated sections on each line......switches permitting!! So, I just need to come up with a final plan for the trackwork around the new Steam Shed & Carriage stabling sidings on the preserved section. I also couldn't resist another Bachmann 47......this time, the Large Logo liveried 47535 University of Leicester. I should really spend the money on scenery & point motors!! 47535 University of Leicester 47535 in HDR Another HDR shot.. Preserved Shed & Yard under construction! Thanks Steve
  2. I've just started to add Ratio security fencing around the fuelling point. I'm really impressed with this product. Also, I've installed a couple of CR signals Yard lamps which look fantastic. Here's a few shot's.... Thanks Steve
  3. Very impressive pointwork in the station area!! I'll keep my eye on this one! Regards Steve
  4. New Loco added to the stable today. An Ivatt 2-6-2 Tank for the preserved line. What a fantastic runner!! Also, having been inspired by the scenery on "Torrington" which is stunning to say the least, I've also planted my first clumps of long grass as can be seen between the buffer stops. I don't think that I'll ever reach that standard but I'm going to try and improve my scenery skills (which won't be hard!!). The last shot shows a new Berko signal installed.......I've also just ordered a fuel tank kit and some security fencing to try and improve the loco stabling facilities. I've also made a start on building up the retaining wall's. Regards Steve
  5. Thanks Scott!! Just a few more shot's of some resident Walstead Green loco's.... Regards Steve
  6. A couple more shot's of both sets of signals now working and another of the slightly modified southerly end of the station with extended platform on the up lines. Steve
  7. Thanks once again....... I've just installed the first of two (CR Signals) platform mounted 4-aspect dual head signal's............they really bring the layout to life! I just need to finish wiring up the first one and then start on No.2 tomorrow. Please excuse my son's 4-VEP in platform 4.....It's a little out of territory!! Cheers Steve
  8. Thanks again.......McC, the foam base was no problem to work with.......I did get through a fair bit of ballast though due to the higher shoulders. Here's a roughly sketched out track plan and a few more shot's.... Cheers Steve
  9. Thanks for the positive comments....they are very much appreciated. I will sort out a track plan as soon as I can.... Here's a couple of up to date shot's that I took earlier (before hypothermia set in!!). Preserved line with a very recently extended headshunt. The preserved railways HQ and the main 9-road hidden siddings in the background View towards the main station from the 4 arch bridge Cheers Steve
  10. Yeah, it's a labour of love though...I'm just waiting for some signals to turn up....then some more wiring fun!!! I decided to ditch my idea of having a river but instead, I went for the Canal.......a very important part of West Midland's scenery. It conveniently dissappears into a tunnel.........I was wondering how I was going to incorporate a river into a backscene. Here's a couple of photo's..... Steve
  11. Thanks Jack.......Bitten off a bit more than I can chew methinks!! I've also changed a few things as I've gone on...just to give myself more work! A few more shots...... Steve
  12. Welcome to my Modern Image loft based layout, Walstead Green which I started back in 2008. It's based on "somewhere" near Wolverhampton in the West Midlands with no exact timeframe as I like BR Blue & Intercity and my Son's like Virgin, Cross Country etc!! It's approximately 17' x 11' and I still have much to do!! It may be finished by the end of the century!! Just so that I can add a few Steamers, a preserved, ex GW branch line shares the main line station. Anyway, on with a few pics....I'll start at the beginning Thanks for looking...... Steve
