Morning all from a grey Scottish HQ.
I've never quite understood why Scottish school summer holidays are so early. Yes, it means that parents can possibly get marginally cheaper holidays while the English schools are off, but it seems perverse to lock the kids back in school from mid-August when the Book Festival and Fringe are taking place in the Capital... Hey ho...
Must say happy birthday to Brian, a huge thumbs up to Rick for an amazingly generous gesture, and greetings to everyone else.
We took part in the pub quiz last night. Going into the total wipeout round we were tied for 4th place in last night's quiz, 5 points behind the leaders. We knew for definite 6 of the 10 questions on the wipeout round, but decided to risk the four answers we weren't 100% certain of in a brave all or nothing attempt... and we got full marks! This left us only one point shy of the winners, so an excellent second place was secured. And we won £40 on the "guess the random number between 1 and 1000" competition - it had rolled over 7 times and we shared the £80 jackpot with another team that had got it spot on. That leaves us 3rd in the league on 50 points, 7 behind the 2nd place team, but miles behind our friends who are on 74.
It is all to do with the harsher winters and the clock changes ie if you close the schools for longer in the winter you don`t have to heat them and the little darlings don`t have to go to school when it is dark for such a long period. Funny they seem to manage in Norway

Our mobiles are fine. In fact #3 son doesn't have a home phone at all, like many young people. And if I needed to I could always plug one o the many wired phones laying about into the socket.
Yours may be but not every bodies are
-
It is always advisable to have at least one conventional phone ie wired in case of power cuts . Remember there are plenty of mobile phone black spots I can`t use my mobile phone unless I go into the garden

Any recommendations for a decoder? Something from TCS that will fit?
A Bachmann 36-556RA will fit perfectly

Thank you for that, but traffic into Bath in the summer is just plain horrendous, hence the request for info about Park and Ride. I haven't visited this show since it moved from Bradford-upon-Avon and it doesn't look as I'll be doing so anytime soon.
Have a nice show, I'm sure it will be most enjoyable, but a show in Bath in the summer is a big no no.
Regards
Don't you think this is more than a little condescending?
Why comment if you are not or have no intention of attending

They have a separate product code of 36-420 so presumably they will be.
Not listed under Scenecraft figures on their web site
-
The well-known model shops often sell each other's ltd ed models, presumably once the original seller feels sales have slowed down or they just want to reach a wider audience.
This was done by Bachmann and Kernow and has nothing to do with shops "swapping" stock
-
How come Hatton's are selling Kernow 205s?
Because they are no longer exclusive to Kernow

Evening all. Anyone have a spare £5k they can part with? http://westhamauction.com/m/lot-details/index/catalog/1/lot/106/
Long day. Knackered. Good night everyone.
What a crying shame that they could not take it to the new stadium. Norwich still have theirs

The reason we haven't publicised where we are to a great extent is down to the major suppliers dawdling over getting Reps and stock to us.
Now we have a (fairly) decent amount of things foe people to look at, it is worth calling in!
More likely doing credit checks and arranging credit limits for your account
-
Well I've found an error in the first section I looked at .....
Go on don`t be a spoilsport tell us what is is

It should have be a 3 car issue from the start

Has anyone had faulty class 73's returned from repair by Dapol (DCC supplies) yet? I sent back two in January and have heard absolutely nothing since. They must be in league with Humax (manufacturer of tv set top boxes). Anything sent back to them just disappears into a 'black hole of denial'.
About par for the course talking to both retailers and other modellers you are not the only one who has been kept waiting with no information. I would pester both Dapol and DCC Supplies [ if you can get through on the phone that is}

Oh I dunno ! If Hornby Group goes under (and it is definitely on the cards|) it might be the only way that Hornby Trains can survive. Bachmann UK would benefit from extra scale, and could afford to build on the best models of either. But in the process some would have to be rationalised into oblivion. In which case forums like this might have a say !
Bachmann would be fools to take over Hornby. They would put themselves in jepody . The model railway market ain`t growing why do you think Bachmann bought Pocketbond ?
-
To be fair, they have made a number of steps this year. (Some before the MD departed, some after)
- Relaxation of margins on some lines
- Extension of the rebate scheme to all purchases
- issuance of catalogues (if somewhat rushed)
- Access to discounted line items at the same time as Hornby website
- Removal of the "Buy, Buy, BUY!" type messages from the website homepage
- Prominent link to the dealer network pages
- 72hr promotion of the dealer network
- and now removal of exclusivity of previous concession/website only products.
I think they've really grasped the nettle - next stage - get more facetime with reps and return margins to where they used to be on rolling stock and scalextric cars.
(and perhaps close accounts of those who sell from residential properties)
That would only be achieved by closing the account of their main wholesaler which I feel may be difficult to do. Also it is well known that there is third party trading and that would have to be stopped and that will be difficult to do. Otherwise what you say in your post above is very very true

Actually Kader , set up Bachmann UK to market the old Mainline tooling they had .
Actually Kader own Bachmann full stop
-
Defies belief... Some people just can't throw anything away can they.
Any body spotted it is not a Hornby model ?
-
Funny they show a Bachmann loco
-
It is cheaper to buy the paper than click on this link
-
I'm on the verge of giving up ever seeing this model, which I ordered in December! I placed an order over the telephone and despite assurances that I would receive soon - no sign of it!
Why not ring Dapol and find out ? That is the only you will know

I wonder whether it's to cover their own costs for the Limited Editions...
200 locos at £150, a whopping £30k
£150 is certainly NOT the cost price to the LT museum. They will have a trade price
-
For most of the UK, you can't "just pop out" for a length of Peco either.
Very few people will have a stockist on their doorstep.
Not on their doorstep but relatively close by in most cases
