Wrenn were never consistent with their paint shades. The later stove enamalled finisishes could be any shade of green, even grey green on their city locos depending on the length of time in the oven. The pic is a case in point, this loco was purchased for a conversion job.

Most of the ones that I have seen are very close to that.

    Hi Numpty

There is a lot of information about Hornby Dublo restoration, including paint  options for the cast aluminium buildings as well as locomotives, on the two threads "Hornby Dublo" and "Playing With Hornby Dublo Again", both to be found in this Collectable/Vintage section.  Both threads run to 30-plus pages so you may have to do some trawling - a pleasure in itself - unless someone can point you to the specific posts.

    Good luck

    Mike

I keep looking at  both of those threads but haven’t found what I need,

    Thanks

  3. There were several threads post  about paint choices for Hornby Dublo items, locomotives, stations etc.

I can’t seem to find them, can someone please post a link.

I have some to re-paint, thank you.

I would of thought with a K's kit, a few prototype photos would give more information than K's instructions.

K’s interpretation of 1361 is a little bit different to the prototype plus there a parts missing.

It would be nice to see how the manufacture intend the kit to be built rather than relying on how I think it should be assembled.

Thanks for the help much appreciated.

That's a good point, although I still don't see what the point is in banning domestic coal either, contributions from that are negligable too, it'll just annoy people for no good reason.

Isn’t that what they do anyway?

The EL books give you an idea for where to go/look at the survivors if there is a specific type of locomotive you want.  Many of these can also be seen on the websites for the preserved railways and other photo sites.

A good friend in searching as ever once you know the loco you are after is Google.

I've  been using Google (which I'm well aware and there are other search engines!).

I would prefer a book ( hence asking for a book recommendations and the title of the post) and pages to turn over, however one book doesn't cover everything.

The subject of industrial steam locomotives happens to be a vast and interesting one.

I apologise for not posting in the "book section".

  7. I’m OK with black but yellow doesn’t suit me and I don’t do stripes! :D

Preseved locomotives should represent their respective liveries of their working lives as well as fictitious ones.

Full kudos for the paint job, gloss black isn’t the easy colour to paint anything with and those chevron stripes must have done somebody’s head in!

I do like the engine and the owner is very lucky to be it’s custodian.

Unfortunately I’ve not seen the loco in steam, however I did seen Jessie twice at Llangollen.Once on the rails being propelled by a diesel (painted blue) and the second time in the workshop (frames).

  8. Nice to watch but I would like to see a TV program that visits all the  UK heritage railways.

I realise that quite a number have had a bit of air time over the years but it’s just bits here and there!

Often when I have visit heritage railways I hear “I didn’t realise you were here” and sometimes that’s from people supposingly  that just live down the road.

Has anyone thought to release models/kits of these coaches which could have a portion of the sales profits donated to the restoration of the prototype?

I realise it’s an old post but why isn’t that common practice?

Different manufactures seem to be duplicating models ( e.g.Terrier) yet there are numerous subjects to make models of.

Any such models either “ready to run” or “kit” produce could easily help funding of their prototype through such a donation scheme!
