Just coming back to this - the centre track is useful even without an industry, a useful bit of spare space if somebody was having to switch it clear of the main, and if you ever wanted to add an additional industry to the park it makes an easy place to add it.
It's always a good idea to have at least one bit of "spare" trackage that you can put overload into, and which does not have any other purpose, other than looking good when empty. I know we're always having to be concious of space, and fitting a gallon into a half-pint pot, but in real life the majority of industry locations have at least one or two short sidings without any obvious use related to them.
