  1. thanks for that seems a good frame work to look at. Unfortunately I cant add a triangular piece that would be any good for the frame work as there is a roof beam there, that is why the board is 22 inch as it fits between them. I like the long curve idea though and will look into that
  2. Thank you for the feedback, ill have a look for the layout you mentioned. I had considered moving from 00 to N, however already have a decent amount of code 75 track work as well as the stock (for an exhibition layout as well).
  3. Hi All, Ive just converted the loft for a layout space. I am now struggling to come up with an idea that I can settle on and am happy with. Ive considered a large end to end as well as a roundy roundy. You can see from the picture I have a space of 18ft6 x 11ft. It will be in 00 Gauge (the N scale will be on the lower deck). The boards cant be any wider than what they are shown as due to the roof structure being in the way. The Era I am modelling is from about 1995 - 2002, so I can fit in things like 37s on 4 coach trains, DMUs, Enterprise workings as well as block trains. With the region being mainly North Wales Coast/English Board, but I am opening to moving it. If it was to be a roundy I would like some train running but also something to shunt about and operate as well, as I dont just want to watch trains go by and thats it. Any thoughts, ideas or plans would be greatly appricated.
  4. Obviously went over my head changed now to avoid confusion
  5. I was more thinking a platform road that had one use one side (say passengers) and one use on the other (say some form of industry).
  6. Hi, Is There anywhere on the railway, (mainly looking at late 80s and early 90s), where a bay platform was used for multiple uses? What I mean by that is on on side a platform for passenger and then on the other some form of industry, even if just van loading? Cheers
  7. Hi Duncan. Don't know if this would interest you but I recently had access to Shirebrook depot and yard for a look around:
  8. Great Exhibition. My first time there with my Uncles layout Brooklane. A great mix of layouts, and traders. The electrical gremlins on Saturday didn't detract anything, if not improve things as people spent more time looking at the details on the layout and asking more questions. Here is my video highlights from the show:
  9. Will be there on the Sunday helping out my uncle on Brooklane. This will be its last show in his ownership. Preview of the layout, but with "real sound":
  10. This was my favourite layout of the whole show. It was really well done and not over complicated. It also kept things moving and kept the interest.
  11. Brooklane, a small N gauge layout of my uncles.
  12. recently found the Much Murkle thread. Got to say this is the layout I am looking forward to seeing at the weekend. Will be at Milton Keynes with another layout, so will probably be over several times.
  13. I am after some information on wagons/methods of transportation of sand in the 60s. The layout is based in the Midlands (North Notts) and I want to model sand trains because of the quarries in the area. Could anyone please tell me what wagons were used to transport sand? If open did they have covers/tarps. Also has anyone got any pictures? Thank you in advance
  14. Layout looks great. Seen it twice now and a joy to watch and look at the details. Also thank you for letting our little lad do the 66 horn at the Woodthorpe show at the weekend, really made it for him and something so simple.
  15. Will they still do warranty if you bought it second hand?
  16. I checked the wiring took it all off and resoldered all the connections. One of the capacitors next to the motor had become unsoldered so I reattached that too. also check the motor with a 9v battery as suggested and the motor did run. The problem I have is that if I put the loco on the track with nothing in the 8 pin socket the loco will sit there quiet. As soon as anything is added to the socket (either decoder or blank) the motor (well I assume its the motor) squeals. Any new suggestions welcome...
  17. Hi, to reply to your questions: what Hornby model number is it? Its R3067 Assuming it is DCC ready? Yes comes with 8 pin socket ready to plug into Are your other DCC locos working fine? Yes, tested a Heljan 47 after and it ran fine Is it causing a short on DC (assuming you can test it on DC - if so then the PCB or motor may be faulty)? If I remove the chip then the short goes away. I do not have a DC controller to test on DC Where are you putting the speaker and the chip - chip should be in an insulating sleeve? Speaker was on the bottom of the chassis near the undriven bogie and the chip was insulated and place on the weight with double sided tape. But even if there out the train the result it the same
  18. Hi, After a bit of advice. I recently bought a Railroad Class 31 and decided to put the TTS chip into it. It programmed fine and no errors etc flagged up, BUT when I put it onto the layout to test it the loco shorts. As soon as I take the chip out the socket it is fine. Have I got a faulty chip, or is there something else at play? Thanks in advance
