  1. Rabbit, rabbit, rabbit that's all this forum does!
  2. Sailing coasters still plied the Severn and Bristol Channel into the 1930s. Chris Handley's The Maritime Activities of the Somerset & Dorset Railway has pictures of them visiting Highbridge Wharf and Bridgwater. This is my conversion of a 1/87th HMS Beagle. There are numerous things I could have done better, but it gives an overall impression of the little ships that were the HGVs of the era. It is surprisingly hard to find a reasonably priced model sailing ship suitable to use with a small scale harbour scene in 4mm.
  3. Thought of you as I passed by en route from St Magnus the Martyr to Southwark Cathedral, on a stained glass safari. I think I must have had the camera settings for the stained glass still on, as this isn't my finest snap. The file name is the location's coordinates
  4. A bit late for you - this one was on Railway Approach and backed onto Duke Street Hill - It still seems to be there according to G**gle maps http://www.ipernity.com/doc/philsutters/40529426
  5. You could try a model boat accessories supplier - I have bought bits and pieces for my S&DJR coasters from Cornwall Model Boats - this page is a search result for pulleys. https://www.cornwallmodelboats.co.uk/cgi-bin/ss000001.pl?page=search&SS=pulley&PR=-1&TB=O&ACTION=Go%21 You can find thin chain in charity shop jewelry trays - but that is a rather hit and miss approach, but it is worth keeping an eye on such cheap resources. I got a load from a multi-strand necklace.
  6. We see a lot of summer time layouts, some are clearly in hot weather showing parks or beaches with people sunning themselves or playing cricket. Does anyone model carriages with their windows open?
  7. This is from one of my mother's family's albums. I think it shows some of her aunts in the office of the family's men's outfitters business. The office equipment will have been state of the art as the Pritchard's of Hereford were great technophiles - cars, motorcycles, balloons using town gas, radio etc. It certainly seems to have more keys than a typewriter.
  8. The way it is spaced the second letter does not exist. Each cell, of six, numbers down the first (left) side 1,2,3, then down the second 4,5,6. The second letter has a single dot at position 4. 'i' would have a dot at 2 and one at 4. The rest of the letters and contractions are correct. I checked this with my wife who used to teach Braille.'a' has one dot but it is at position 1.
  9. Handy for rounded arches and window tops - and van ends. For those who haven't used one, you need to go very steadily, gradually eating into the the material you are cutting, while holding the pivot and the cutting head.. Go too fast and the blade will go off course.
  10. ..or an S&DJR one - http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/gallery/image/77588-sdjr-4wheeled-3-plank-open-wagon-no-6498/
  11. Some wheels and a load of other bits More wheels & other bits please
  12. Maybe you can gauge the width from these photos - I only made one trip there - so the dates can't both be right - they are scans of prints which are undated - someone will know when 30075 was there.
  13. Thanks for indicating where the brake wheel is, Nat - Amberley 2011 Keep the wheels turning!
  14. This wasn't always the end of the line - it went on down the jetty. More ends of more lines please.
  15. How big does your big loco have to be? This were typical S&D 1960s trains on the Somerset Central.
