  1. Hi.

    I mentioned in a previous post on this subject, that I have just bought a gallon of 99% IPA through Amazon.

    It is, much to my surprise, very easily obtainable, and quite cheap, bought in bulk.

    It is heralded as a cleaning agent....... just given my laptop a well earned clean using it.

    I've never used it for paint stripping, and my first attempt with it is going to be an O gauge model, so I need to avoid any disasters. (I've used Dettol before now......... very expensive and an extremely sticky mess to clean afterwards)

    Very glad the decision was taken to do it again rather than release a model we’d have been asking for a retool of and probably waited 3-5 years!
    No doubt those who’ve cancelled either didn’t really want one or built one from the old RJH kit? As there’s no othe rtr option if you want one for a layout then it’s really the only option apart from some serious reworking of the metal kit.

    I did really want one, but not at any lack of what could be called customer service.

    Why have we got 4 years "down the line" and there's suddenly a major re-design required ?

    Where does the comment "built one from the old RJH kit" come from ?  I never mentioned it.

  3. Hi.

    In reference to what I would like Dapol to produce ;

    I would like Dapol to produce a model, any model, within what could be considered a reasonable time scale. (for example with in 2 years max., preferrably less).

    I've just cancelled my pre-order for a Class 66 as they've just added a year to the delivery date, with the click of a mouse. ( It's already been 5 years since the announcement)

  4. Hi.

    Just cancelled my pre-order for this model.

    I am getting extremely tired of the big manufacturers, very apparent, lack of respect for customers.

    This thread started in 2019, and Dapol have just added another year to the wait.

    (I agree with what other contributors to this thread have said ; if they are re-tooling the whole model. it's probably going to be more than one year before we get any model, based on it being 4 to 5 years to get this far)

    (Heljan have just done the same thing with the two BSO's I had pre-ordered, I have cancelled those as well, adding another six months to the delivery date, with no explanation !!!)

    I suppose there is a positive to be taken from this ; I saved myself a lot of money.

  5. Hi.

    I've had some success in the past with brown Dettol, in OO, and I've just done an O gauge class 47 repaint.

    Totally submerse the item and leave it for 12 hours or more.

    Couple of problems ;

    1. Cleaning the sticky mess off the model, after stripping.

    2. Some fogging on the clear window parts ; which is difficult/impossible to remove.

    I've got another O gauge 47 to strip, and I've bought a gallon of IPA to do that one, as I've heard from posts on this forum, and in this topic, that it is much better to use.

    As it will be my first time using this, any advice would be welcome.

  6. Hi.

    Coming in late to this topic.

    How about an O gauge class 68 ?

    The artwork is already done in OO, so surely it wouldn't be too hard a job.

    If they want a really hard job, an O gauge Kestrel would look superb, but very much more a niche model.

    Keith.

  7. Many thanks for your input.

    I have managed to delete a lot of the junk, so I can now see what I am doing. 👍

    Since we last messaged, I've got everything on my plank, working from the handset, that will be points, loco's, lights and engine shed doors.

    Just the basic wiring at the moment ; work in progress.

    Given on 27 Aug they hadn't even signed off the CADs, any date they gave would be completely pointless.

    I agree Hal.

    I've just joined this thread, and note that it started in October 2019 !!!

    Haven't had to wait long have we ????  LOL

    I've just got a Dapol Class08 (O gauge) and I am very pleased with it ; If this redesign results in a 66 with similar level of detail, IMHO it'll be well worth it.

  9. Thanks Grovenor.

    Having typed out this post, I went back to the layout, and tried again, (about the third or fourth time), with new addresses ............... and it worked.  That is treating one end of the slip as point 2 and the other end point three.

    It would have been nicer to have the correct icon come up on the cab control because without looking very closely at the double slip, it is very difficult to tell which way it is aligned.

  10. Hi.

    In another post I have asked for a way of deleting unwanted accessories from the list that appears when trying to Create Accessory.  Most of the "junk" has been created in trying to get a Peco double slip to work with the Cab Control.

    I have tried using the inbuilt double slip option, and icon but the nearest I got to getting the two point motors to act in unison was to get the double slip to operate diagonally only i.e. both point motors operate simultaneously or not at all.

    It's almost as if the software/firmware doesn't recognise that there are four configurations for the double slip, even although the icons are there for the four configurations.

    I then ditched that idea, and tried to treat the double slip as two separate points, (which it is), and that didn't work either. (Hence the large amount of junk I need to delete ; another post)

    I am using The ESU Cab Control, Cobalt iP digital motors, and Peco track.

    Any suggestions welcome, a step-by-step "idiots guide" would be welcome.

  11. Hi.

    I am building a layout based on Esu Cab Control and Cobalt iP Digital motors.

    Whilst trying to get used to creating accessory panels, and creating the accessories, I have had many

    attempts at trying to get things right, especially with the Peco Double Slip.

    The result is that ; when I try to create an accessory I am met with a screen full of previous, failed

    attempts which I would really like to delete.

    Nowhere, in the instruction manual or within the handset commands, can I find a facility to delete

    unwanted accessory definitions.

    Can anyone suggest how I can delete the "junk" from the accessory list ?

    Thanks

  12. Incidently, Two Tone Green, I like your username.

    If I build another 47 it will be two tone green, and small front panel.

    I vaguely remember George Jackson Churchward passing through Shrewsbury Station around 1964/65........  didn't have a clue what I was looking at then, but I remembered the name and the fact that it was immaculately painted........... it can't have been very old when I saw it, and my train spotter friend didn't know what it was.... he'd never seen one before.

    The supplementary instruction brochure states that all 11 Function outputs on the V4L are 500mA.  The 4XL is fully covered in the core V4.0 manual.

    Richard

    Thanks for your response.

    I am quite happy with the outputs for the Aux Outputs and the motor outputs they are clearly stated in the relevant literature, it is the other outputs I'm interested in, as mentioned in my initial post.

  14. Hi.

    I'm putting a Loksound V4L into a DJH class 47.

    I have obviously got to wire this myself ; I don't have a convenient socket ready wired.

    The wiring doesn't present much of a problem to me except for a lack of information, which is where I hope

    someone can help me;

    The AUX outputs have a current limit of 500mA per output, with a total of 1 amp for the device ; this info is given in the

    user manual for the Loksound V4 decoder family............ this raises another question ;

    As the V4L and the 4XL are significantly different from the other members of the Loksound 4 family, why isn't there a

    separate user manual for them ???

    I have gone off topic ;

    Does anybody know what the current limits are for the following ?

    FL

    RL

    5 volts

    V+

    Fan output (Fan+ and Fan-)

    Thanks

    hi all.

    just a quick update. i decided to stop selling turntable related products due to a recent amount of abuse/upset and i just dont feel it was justified. I was making them cause i love doing it, solding boards together, writting code, interacting with customers, helping them to write arduino code, but i feel like i have just had my nads repeatidly whacked with a bat ( Boyle style from B99! ) and the amount of rudeness and upset doesnt justify going on. Never really understood why people are rude and nasty and threatening to people. dont want to be part of it.

    If anyone wants help with code, or writting, or help with problems, still available to help.

     Hi Ian.

    Really sorry to hear you have been upset by your treatment on this forum.

    As a suggestion :  You would be doing everybody on RmWeb a favour if you reported the offender(s) to Andy Y......... he is the moderator or one of them, and I think he has the ability/power to stop these morons using Rmweb.

    This would give the morons what they deserve !!
