Hi.
Can anybody tell me where I can get high quality/high detail, lost wax, buffer beam detail for my
DJH 47 ? (O gauge)
Thanks
Keith

P.S. DJH got back to me yesterday, about the photo of a DRS Class 47 model on their website.
They suggested that the grey used for that model was possibly "Intercity Grey".
-
Thanks for the info Jo.
I think I may depart from black a little, although the considerable number of photo's, online and the ones I've taken, show black, as you say, or very dark grey.
Personally I think the dark grey looks better.
I don't intend trying to win any prizes for this loco ; I am building it purely for my own pleasure, so rather than being prototypically correct I am going for "looks nice to me".

Hi.
I've done a bit (a lot really) research and discovered something, and possibly answered my own question !!
I tried to put into the search engine, "DRS Roof Grey" and got two completely different colours, both enamel, and both by Railmatch.
Both are listed as "DRS Roof Grey" but one is a very light blue/grey, which is for the DRS coaching stock, and the other is probably what I am looking for ; a dark grey, which I assume/hope is for the loco.
I have ordered some of the dark grey version of "DRS Roof Grey" and will see what it looks like.

Hi.
I have a problem which I am almost certain somebody will be able to solve.
I am currently building a DJH Class 47, O gauge model, in DRS Compass livery.
I have got all of the paints from Phoenix Precision, and I am happy with all but one of them ;
The P115 B.R. Roof Grey.
To my eye, this paint looks like a dark mushroom colour, rather than a definite grey.
I understand that colour perception is an individual thing, and I have no reason to doubt that the colour is accurate, however I have
no intention of putting it anywhere near my model.
I have asked Phoenix if they can suggest another colour, haven't received an answer.
DJH have a photo of a Class 47 in DRS compass livery, on their website, and I have just asked them for the second time if they can tell
me what colour the builder used, as that colour is exactly what I want. ( Photo on DJH website, and subject to their copyright, so I can't copy it )
With this being such an expensive model, I really want to get it right.
Can anybody suggest a different colour for the roof ?
Thanks

Hi.
Picked mine up about an hour ago.
Absolutely fantastic. Beautifully presented.
Really looking forward to the other nuclear gear and the Mk5's I've got on order.
Accurascale have really "raised the bar" with these !!!

Brilliant photo's from Jack374.
Like Jack I've had two 57's and two escort coaches for years with nothing to go in the middle.

Had a similar situation to Harry Lime earlier in this thread.
Missed the delivery and will have to wait until tomorrow !!
Like the feedback from those who have taken delivery. They look really good with their accompanying rolling stock.

Other than disappointment, I'm not sure what you're trying to achieve here?
Accurascale themselves have said (not 3 posts before yours) that these will not arrive in the UK before March. I'd tend to believe the Accurascale team over what a retailer (who has a reputation for being dodgy) says on their website! We'll all have to be patient, and look forward to the arrival of these wagons in March!
Not trying the achieve anything.
Perfectly well aware of what AS position is........ and I am perfectly OK with AS, and having to wait
like everyone else, Thanks.
I have actually contacted Olivia's pointing out that their advert is incorrect.
Maybe that's why they've now changed it ?

Hi,
Sorry, I do have one question on these.
Will they be available from retailers or is just Accurascale direct?
Simon
HI.
Just been on the Olivia's Trains website, (no connection), and they have sections advertising the AS products......... It's a bit of a bone of contention on another posting about the AS KUA's in OO gauge.
Stop press : Hattons do as well (no connection)
Unless you have a specific reason for buying off a retailer, why not buy off the guys who have had them made ? (As I am doing)

Hi.
Just going back to Olivias Trains saying they have got these in stock : just been on their website within the last hour, and they still maintain that they are "In Stock Ready to Order". Not only that, but they also state that if an item has got a price next to it, it is in stock ; and the KUA's have a price of £160 against them. They are definitely listed as the OO gauge version.
In connection with my order for the AS TPE mk5's :
I have just ordered a TPE class 68 Achilles in OO, from them, which they also reckon is in stock, and yet no-one else has them, not even Dapol !! I've ordered next day delivery, so I'll see if it arrives.
If it does I'll let you know here.

Look on Olivia trains website today says the kua wagons are in stock.
Hi.
Just been on Olivias Trains website and it does say the OO gauge items are "In Stock Ready to Order".
As the people who make them don't have them yet, it seems like the "In Stock" bit is totally misleading, and the "Ready to Order" bit is applicable.
They're out of order for their statement.

Really interesting read, thanks - all adds to the mystery of these impressive, unusual trains!
The description also gives some ideas for people figures to add to a layout... something often missed in photos, either by wanting to only get the train in the image or by understandable Police request perhaps?!
Without wanting to deviate from the thread, there used to be an air-raid siren sounded every (?) Tuesday afternoon down in Southampton back in the early 1990's... presumed to be because of the local docks but maybe some other reason? Nearby Fawley Oil Terminal, perhaps? I assume they never had 'special' cargos at the Docks that would warrant such a system?
Really want/must get my order in for these KUA's - I got the half-pint Revolution version and they are a real treat! Looking at the photos of the OO version, it really does show the efforts put in to making a top class product too.
Just a thought - as it will be a bit of a late Christmas present and it's cold outside, should I also ask for a bowl of Ready-Brek to make me 'glow' (probably a TV reference there for the older generation among us!).
Cheers,
Ixion.
Hi Ixion.
I used to work regularly on Fawley Refinery, and the siren you may have heard would have been the weekly test of the Site Fire Alarm, rather than anything nuclear.

Hi Jack.
Thanks very much for the info, very interesting.
It would be nice to see them, for real, perhaps i'll start monitoring things next summer, which is
when I retire !! (Camping out at a station may not be out of the question then !!)
Have a good Xmas and a Happy and Safe New Year .

Hi.
Referring to Jacks video, anybody know why there were three sheds employed in that train ?
By the sounds coming from the video they were all fired up as well.
Could prove expensive if we all have to acquire another loco to be prototypical !!!

Whichever way they get here, the slight delay won’t detract from seeing them in the flesh, and tbh are there really any time constraints in this hobby? The only possible one I can think of is having something ready for an exhibition, clearly not an issue at present unfortunately...
The real 12":1' vehicles are back 'home' at Sellafield now, they travelled back under (largely) the cover of darkness last week, with the original MK2a escort coaches and 3x sheds. The fact they travelled at night showed the interiors of the coaches quite well (usually impossible to see due to mirrored windows), and they were quite full! Reportedly with armed guards...although a couple of microwaves could be spotted inside one coach so the occupants travelled in relative luxury! Here's a video from YT of two slow passes:
Like others, I received my AS Christmas card today - a really nice gesture. Cheers!
Jack.
Hi Jack.
Many thanks for the excellent video.
I don't suppose you can say how you knew the train was "coming through" in order to get the video.
I would really like to see these things "in the flesh", but can't afford to spend weeks camped out on a station, just in case.

I have had an e-mail from Accurascale (and a very nice Christmas card, thank you, gentlemen) to the effect that the KUAs are nearing completion and Accurascale is trying to decide whether air transport can be afforded or if it will be necessary to sent them by sea. Gentlemen, have you considered the train? Faster than the ship and cheaper than the aeroplane.
Hi.
I have no experience in the shipment of goods worldwide, I would have thought that the possibility of losing the shipment on the long ourney from China would be massive, compared to ship or air transport.
I agree with dogbox321 ; they would need to be very well insured !!

To everyone on this thread, everyone on RmWeb, and everyone at Accurascale:
Merry Xmas, and have a safe and Happy New Year.

Before anybody points out to me that deliveries are unpredictable at the moment, because there is a pandemic taking place, I totally realise and understand that, including the dire effects it has had on some people.
My comments are purely to inject a little humour into the situation we all find ourselves in.
Hopefully "things" can start getting more settled in the New Year.

Got the same problem getting a Dapol Class 68 TPE off Hattons.
(I've put a deposit down on the Mk 5's from Accurascale)
I've been given a delivery date, and its been changed twice to "next month", and, since I haven't got the model yet, I think it's about to be changed to "next month" again !!
LOL.......... you've gotta larfe aint ya !
-
Oh well, I guess the 57's and barriers will have to wait a bit longer !
Can't be helped, I guess.

Yes I was told next month, in time for Xmas.

Hi Ian.
Really sorry to hear you have been upset by your treatment on this forum.
As a suggestion : You would be doing everybody on RmWeb a favour if you reported the offender(s) to Andy Y......... he is the moderator or one of them, and I think he has the ability/power to stop these morons using Rmweb.
This would give the morons what they deserve !!
