  1. Thanks Steve, Glad it brought back some memories. Another former signalman there who still lives in Wycombe has helped us out alot with all the workings that went through there and through the Model Rail article a few months back another former signalman got in touch with us aswell. Seems like it was a popular place to work ! The footpath through the woods is still there altthough its quite overgrown at the station end as most people now just use the trackbed as a footpath now. Unfortunatley the station site is now a soulless industrial estate. Dan.
  2. Thanks Captain Kernow, It should never of closed, you hear about it every now and then in the local papers about it re opening but i dont think it ever will. There is too much built on now. Short sighted BR !!
  3. Thanks, Bodge, All the pics of Loudwater that are on here were taken by me, the Model Rail ones were Chris Nevard. They are really something else ( as you would expect ! ) . They really bring the layout to life. I won't post any on here though as i'll probably get into trouble ! Dan.
  4. Loudwater will be appeaing in next months Model Rail.
  5. Just a couple of shots of the Beaconsfield exhibition a couple of weeks ago.
  6. Like wise, thanks for taking the time to come and see the layout, it ran pretty well most of the day. The trouble with such a big layout like that is that it only ever gets operated at an exhibition and its always a bit of a worry if it will run or not on the day ! Luckily any problems we had were sorted early on. Thanks again.
  7. You can see a short video of the layout in action at the Beaconsfield exhibition on the 5th Oct... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RCqRsPhD3pQ
  8. Work has started on the wycombe end scenic break with a scaled down version of the still in situ bridge at Abbey Barn Road about a mile from the station. On the layout it will be considerably nearer though.
  9. Not much to update im affraid layout wise , as mentioned above Loudwater attended Risex on 23rd Feb. We got the call a week before the exhibition and had a mad week getting the layout as presentable as possible. Running problems appeared now and then throughout the day , due mainly i think to the damp garage that it has been stored in for months. Those who did take a look during one of the 'lull's' i appoligise for the lack of activity. I didn't get a chance to take many pictures during the day but here is one of the better ones. Lion rumbles through on her way back to Paddington with a diverted test train.
  10. A couple of photos of recent work on the layout. The main thing is the 2 platform starters are in. They were round post towards the 60's but earlier pics show square ones. As i hate building signals 2 Dapol ones have been used for the time being. The calling on arm still needs added to the Treadaway hill end signal at the mo.
  11. Thanks, there is still a bridge there in that direction so it could of well been that one. Ive taken some photos of it so it can become the scenic break at that end of the layout. It will be considerably closer to the station than the real thing was though. Glad it brought back some memories for you, it means were doing something right !
  12. Thank you, Thame would make a great layout, its a shame they knocked it down a few years ago. There will be more pics up once it is set up again, hopefully with signals starting to appear !
  13. Not many people seemed to photograph that side of it so its good to see one. Handy for the downpipe details on the back of the box. Ta.
  14. No probs, when we have a chance to set it up again i'll post a few more.
  15. I shall study some more photos i think, it looks red in the few colour ones ive seen but i guess it depends on how the light is hitting it.
  16. Thanks. Yep thats him !
  17. Thank you, I only know it from photos aswell , it had gone long before i was born ! That is intresting about the halls and the 66xx at Slough. I never knew there was one shedded there. I have a copy of the Great Western Journal and there is some superb photos in it. We have used them alot for building this. There is another issue aswell ( i cant remeber which one though ) that has a lovely double page spread of a Dukedog going over the level crossing. Thanks for the info and the links, they are gonna be a great help.
  18. I see, a little further on from Gordon Road. The mounds where the abutments were for the bridge are still either side of London road.
  19. Thank you for your kind comments. That must of been on Gordon road then ? My dad grew up in the shop at the end of the road backing on to the railway. I agree with the flints, i had nothing to do with that exercise thank god !
  20. That is the intention, we did one last year at Beaconsfield but it was no where near finished. The aim now is to get it closer then hopefully get some more exhibitions. If anyone is intrested in it the door is always open.
