  1. O scale is and has been used by a "minority" in the hobby in the States for 50 or so years. Even the largest brick and mortar shop rarely stocks more than a few O scale items. Three-rail O (Lionel, etc.) is still a part of the hobby and many "scale" O engines come in 2- and 3-rail variations in an attempt to expand the market.

I would suggest you check out www.walthers.com to see what may be available from the largest US distributor. Additionally, the 24 X 2 configuration you describe equates to a little less than 8 feet X 8 inches in 2mm.

  2. Frank--Thanks for the comments on the Flickr pictures.

If you have the opportunity to take photographs around Welshpool, I would be particularly interested in full front and back views of the standard gauge station, any shots of the older external timber-framed structures in Welshpool and full-on or 3/4 shots of any of the brick or brick and frame buildings at Raven Square. I appreciate the offer.

  3. Hello David,

Thanks for the kind words and encouragement.

I was aware of the Golden Arrow kits, but you've confirmed my suspicions about their being scarce. I do have a Langley "Sir Drefaldwyn" on the way--a decision rationalized within the American context of being an acceptable "creative anachronism" (and besides, I've got the correct chassis already).

Thanks also for the description of the Wild Swan reference.

    Best Wishes,

    Carl
