Nice signal - I think I need a similar one for my layout...

Love the 1st pic of 5358 in the countryside, there's a real feel of depth. Also like the weathering on the loco - good stuff all round

Hi Les
Glad to see you took the plunge! So great pics there - I do like the black and white ones.
Great looking layout - look forward to seeing more pics

Thank you all for the kind words and 'like this' ticks
Les - get the camera out and start clicking!

Hi Jon
Yes I do uncouple manually, using a mixture of a bent paper clip in a cork and a flat rectangle of brass soldered to a bit of rod attached to an old razor handle!
The choice depends on how close the stock is coupled, as there are a mixture of Airfix, Bachman and Hornby tension locks.
The 14xx and auot have screw-link couplings, and remain permanently coupled!

A few more dodgy snaps from yesterdays session
First up - the cliche arrives!!
I really must get round to getting a driver and passengers for the autocoach so it can be finished!
Next, the 45 is back doing a bit more shunting
And finally, a Collet goods arrives with a parcels train. Mayshill must be a very productive place to warrant this, and four different locos in one day

Thanks Les
The layout would photograph a lot better if it was on the other side of the room, unfortunately there is the slight problem of the door being in the way!
-
No changes or additions to the layout, but I thought I would post some piccies of some train movements. Unfortunately, they haven't come out quite as clearly as I had hoped, but the layout isn't situated ideally with respect to the window.
Anyway, I hope someone finds them slightly interesting
4550 arrives with a Fruit D and B set
After pushing the stock clear, runs into headshunt to run round
Draws the coaches clear of the van
Pulls the van from the headshut to place in the siding
Then starts a spot of shunting
Couples to the stock and has a drink!
Pushes the stock back into the platform. Not sure why all those passengers haven't joined the train - there isn't another one for hours!
The freight arrives behind 3715
and then the shunting starts
and then departs
Thanks for looking

Great set of pics - I particularly like the GW 150 cl 47 head on shot. It looks like it has just reached the summit of an incline.

I can't believe I've missed this superb layout upto now.
I've only sen the area and period in pictures, and this captures it perfectly, especially the black and white pictures. I'm rather envious

Nice new home
Looks like you have room to add quite a bit more to it...!

Thanks for the compliments chaps.
The figures are a mixture. Some of them are the old Airfix railway ones which i must have had for 30 odd years. The have appeared on most of my layouts, being repainted each time. These are probably their best coating so far1
The other figures are the Merit/Modelscene. they come painted, but have all been either repainted or the existing paint touched in as the 'as bought' finish is rather crude, but they are fairly cheap.
I think the Airfix figures are better, as they are a bit more 3d, the Merit/Modelscene are a bit flat.
I think the old Airfix ones are still available from Dapol.

Nice to see some more GW green
I like the way the station makes use of the corner - looking forward to seeing this develop.

My local chippie/chinese has a sign on the door 'No Dog'.
I'm not sure if the 's' is missing or if it relates to the menu...

A little bit more has been done on the slow development of Mayshill...
The goods shed has had a lamp added, a bit of greenery around the base to try and make it look a bit more bedded in and the base was also treated to a bit of black weathering. Also added a porter with a box, which I have just noticed has a rather prominent molding pip on it (so how did I miss it?!). I also added a random bicycle - perhaps it is the porter in the picture?
I have also started to add a few people to the station itself - I do dislike the fiddly nature of people painting, stirring the paint to do one brush stroke! Well I suppose it can't all be fun! I have some more people painted and ready to plant, I am just deciding on where to place them.
Anyway, a few bandwidth filling pictures to be going on with...
This one was trying to be arty...

Interesting set of pics Cap'n. Thanks

Hi Mikkel
Thanks for the kind words.
The crates are Hornby ones from 2006 (R8596). They are not 'Skaledale' so they might have had a bit of a longer production run. There were seven different sizes of crate in the pack.
Hope that helps

Not strictly layout, but it relates to previous posts...
As mentioned in previous posts in this topic, I am lacking wagons from (mainly) the LMS and LNER, so I have started to rectify this!
First up is a Cambrian (kit manufacturer not the railway!!) LNER 6 plank open wagon. This is the first time I have built one of their kits and it goes together just as easily as a Parkside or Ratio kit.
So here are a couple of exciting pics! I have noticed that the side I have chosen to photo as the E a bit on the piss which is slightly annoying!
In the background can be seen a couple of LMS wagons - these are Airfix ones I have picked up for a few quid at shows. I have some Slaters LMS wagons to build, so watch this space for more excitment
Just got to slot the couplings into their pockets to complete

Cannot believe it was April the last time I added anything to this! Mind you, I haven't done much since - rather lost my modelling 'mojo' but it seems to be coming back a bit.
Anyway, inspired by BlackRats Carrick Road layout in last months ModelRail, I noticed that he had modified the Bachmann goods shed with canopies etc. I had already added advertising posters to mine, but thought I would add a small canopy over the rail side of the shed. This was partly because I only had a small amount of valencing left from building the station building and I also thought a full length canopy was a bit overkill for the location.
Anyway, here are the pics, the usual dodgy quality!
End on
Rail side
Road side
And a gratuitous one of the general area

Where's all this timber coming from - must be quite a forest thats gone missing
-
Off the top of my head...
there is a passing loop at 'Chard Junction', Honiton and the fairly recently opened Axminister loop, which I believe is actually a couple of miles long.
-
Excellent bit of work
Makes me wish I had made a bit more effort to get down there with a camera when i was younger...
Certainly beats the weed strewn empty space that exists now
-
Not sure how I missed this one - always good to see more chocolate and cream
