  1. Speaking as one of the APT crowdfunders I am not unduly worried about the companies house letter in terms of what it means for the financial position. Companies house will move to strike off a company that they think is inactive as indicated by non-filing of accounts. It does not infer a problem in the way that nasty letters from HMRC might (and I had some of those when I managed a small company).

As someone said directors/managers of micro-businesses have to multi-task and you can't be good at everything.

The equity in the company has increased in three years so something must be going right!

  2. All of the above but the skip usually wins in the end.  Sadly you might have a similar problem with the trains as well unless there are many desirable items -  when the time comes!

    Brian.

I agree that there is no real value in magazines but the second hand market for model railways stuff is very lively including the ancillary stuff like controllers accessories etc. Even stuff in poor condition will sell if the price is right.

  3. It seems to me that one’s attitude to risk and funds available should determine whether you ‘invest’ or not.

I think that the risk is mitigated by:

Positive cashflow for the model development

    Staged payments

    Previous track record

A degree of transparency over progress

The potential impact on DJ models wider business if this went belly-up

But no-one can predict the future so an unexpected event cannot be ruled out. If you dont want to/cant take the risk then dont get involved.

I’m not sure that the model will leap significantly in value. There seems a lot of people planning to sell on so you are taking a punt on that not turning into oversupply. On the other hand price inflation in model trains could make this a bargain in the future and you could at least be reasonably confident of recovering what you invested. Dave’s post-crowdfunding prices will help with this.

I’ve put my name down for the 14 car version. It will be fun trying to fit that on my new attic layout when its built

  4. This defo qualifies as a bargain, brand new Bachmann Robinson 04 for fifty quid plus £4.75 postage

looks like there are only 4 in stock so be quick

Also Bachmann military manoeuvres for £100 - I bagged both! (ie one of the train set and one of the Robinson 04. I wasn't bulk-buying for Ebay - honest!)

  5. Spent the weekend there and had a great time. A good range of layouts. Spent far too much but pleased with what I managed to buy.

This year I highlighted the layouts on my copy of the plan and I wonder if this would be something the organisers could consider for future floor plans. It certainly helped me navigate and see all the layouts.

Well done to the organisers and exhibitors! It was a great exhibition.
