  1. Hi all, Does anyone know which railway company this hopper wagon originates from also if possible what diagram and who makes this 4mm kit. regards Paul
  2. Steps and vac pipe now fitted together with safety valve:
  3. As an aside there is a heap of info in the book "LNER Passenger Trains & Formation", the Steve Banks and Clive Carter wrote, which explains just about everything on this subject. Paul
  4. I'm confused by this "double checking" of running numbers because Peter Tatlow in 4B gives a complete list of them! As regards, "Dia 40 is pretty much identical to the Dia 39" – not at all: D.40 was the manually braked version. The picture of 150732 in Tatlow 4B is referenced in Steve Banks' website under "Conversions" (also 156203) - both from D.40 manual brake to AVB, gaining LNER axleboxes, but retaining the 9ft WB. They were no longer D.40 but a new Diagram number has not been recorded - Steve reckons it was a blind alley and they were eliminated soon after. He’s added model pictures of the actual D.40.
  5. As an aside, here are some photos of the 7mm 1928 tender for my build of "Knight of the Thistle" using the Hachette Flying Scotsman as a basis:
  6. Hi, I have been looking at Steves articles and book and believe this is what is meant above: What Steve wrote, in several magazine articles, is that the 51’1 1/12” steel-panelled stock was used in short Country District Sets in East Anglia, and even shorter 2- and 3-sets in the West Riding, illustrated, and very modellable. And much longer sets in Edinburgh and Newcastle suburban service although those were mixed with teak-panelled stock. He also wrote about gangwayed “steel quintuple sets” which were made up: BTK-TK, CK, TK-BTK And not just in an article at some length, they got a chapter in his book “LNER Trains & Formations, The Principal Services” as well. And that a good amount of the right stuff is also on Steves w/s here: http://steve-banks.org/modelling/197-gresley-51-1-1-2-steel-panelled-stock http://steve-banks.org/prototype-and-traffic/190-the-west-riding-conurbation Paul
  7. A little more work done, The front bogie is almost done (I used Gibson 2mm Bushes Standard Length Thick Wall to add strength and ridgidity) and as I only had three more now ordered so i can finish. The Roof has also been completed and the Buffers, chimney and Dome added.
  8. Hiya Not yet, looking forward to it, Not!! how are you finding the rest of the kit?
  9. Done a bit more this weekend, Cab roof now fitted as well as the front main frames:
  10. Minor update, not been doing much to the T6 but here is a pic of the current state:
  11. Not much work done on the T6 but I have painted this king recently in 7mm.
  12. Hi, Sorry for the delay, I formed the footplate by initially folding the footplate to 90 degrees at the top of the curved section and then formed the curve round the appropriate sized brass tube till the valences fitted and then soldered the whole lot up.
  13. Usual Falcon brass/Jidenco pain, not being able to identify half the etched parts and nothing fitting right but it should build in to something useable.
  14. I have now attached the valences, splashers and cab front to the footplate and attached one of the smokebox wraps and smokebox front plate to the boiler, the second wrap has been formed but not yet attached. A filler piece for the back of the smokebox is not supplied with the kit and will have to be fabricated.
  15. Now working on the Loco footplate, as you can see from the picture below the valences have to be laminated, which was fun. Here is the Footplate, now formed into the correct shape and the valences have been laminated ready to fit.
  16. Now got the brake standard and brake gear fitted.
  17. Chassis and rear handrails fitted, still need to fit the the brakes. View of the chassis, I'll need to put a space on the front screw for the drawbar.
  18. The basic Comet chassis has been assembled and mounts put in the tender floor but this has highlighted the fact that the wheel rims hit the floor of the tender despite being at the correct height, I still need to add spacers to the axles as well as the brake gear. I will have to pocket the floor at the witness marks indicated by the arrows, I have a T3 to build so I'll make the adjustments to the floor in advance for that one.
  19. I have now added the axle-boxes, tool boxes and sand box together with the buffers and vacuum pipe, most of the basic detail now there, just handrails and brake standard to be fitted plus the lamp brackets to go. I will be fitting a Comet separate chassis complete with brakes to make things easier.
  20. The Coal rails and steps have now been added and the Sandbox lid has been fabricated. ready to add the white-metal fittings and the buffers.
  21. Managed to do some work over the weekend, firstly adding internal supports for the tender top and then fitting it and cleaning up, the tool boxes both need extensive cleaning up due to the poor quality of the castings and I need to make a new slightly larger top for the sandbox.
  22. That would be great if you could PM me the GA, The instructions specifically call the parts shute sides and to solder them into position either side of the tender. I will study the GA and make a call then. Many thanks
  23. The tender sides, back and coal front have now been added and the tender top has been fabricated, its been a pain so far as the instructions have no pictures and are not very self explanatory. Does anyone have any pictures of this type of tender?
  24. Hi All, I thought i would document the work required to build a Falcon brass LSWR/BR Adams Class T6 4-4-0 in OO gauge. Initial start on the tender and the base has been cleaned up and 2 bits of framing have been added. The frames have now had the rivets punched out and have been soldered to the base. To show something I have previously built, here is an LNER K2 built from a nucast kit with added details again in 4mm.
