  1. Hi Polybear Brian) - Paul is away from home visiting family, I will contact him again later in the week and put your suggestion to him. Again, without being evasive, the rest of us are almost as much in the dark with regard to the electronics involved. We just drive 'em guv ! All I know is that the smoke/steam is produced from distilled water and obviously DCC controlled. Chris K
  2. Responding to the various posters commenting on the smoke effects presented on New Kensal Green and the perceived lack of information forthcoming from our operators I trust the following will offer some explanation. 1 The most pertinent point is that, yes, the system is still under development and requires substantial further experimentation and work. 2 The inventor, Paul, is a friend of the SCRMD Group and loans his own locos to us for use when we exhibit both our layouts. We feel that we do take risks in showing a system under development, however this is the only practical way to evaluate and fault find under exhibition circumstances. 3 Having spoken to Paul this morning he is unsure still if there is a commercial future for the system, he has had several interested people at the few shows we have attended so far and is happy to talk to anybody about the idea whether commercially or just as an inquiring modeller. 4 The group will be showing the system again at the GETS show in October when Bournemouth West will have around ten locos fitted by Paul, hopefully including a Lord Nelson, any one who attends is more than welcome to enquire and discuss with him. 5 I trust this will dispel the notion that we are Magic Circle members or belong to a secret society rolling up our trouser legs or such ! 3. The New Kensal Green crew also would like to pass on our appreciation and thanks to Dave BigC , Ant and the R&D club members for looking after us so well at what was a terrific exhibition of all things good in our wonderful hobby. Congrats to Dave with his lovely evocative Sherton Abbas deservedly winning for best layout, the GWR shown off to its best. We like to think of ourselves as a friendly bunch down in Bournemouth, and would have enjoyed the Saturday evening social mentioned by Jerry if we had been aware it was on ! We will look forward to our next visit , hopefully with 'Bournemouth West' in the not too distant future. Chris Knight
  4. Hi Andy, Since the recent upgrade my Chris Knight username has reverted to Evertonian - a tag I used when signing up, quickly changed. Any chance you can sort out for me as my computer skills are limited to say the least ! Ta, Chris K
  5. I usually post my occasional contribution to this thread under my Chris Knight moniker, since the recent 'upgrade' that seems to have reverted me back to Evertonian and my very basic computer skills can't cope with sorting it out. However thanks for your kind comments relating to New Kensal Green (not Rise) at the Ally Pally show, a brief illustration appears on video on the exhibition thread of the smoke effects you mention. I post with some trepidation here as I know Tony is definitely not a fan of such "gimmicks" but our group have shown the system twice now when exhibiting the group's Bournemouth West layout and this weekend for the first time on the shed scene. We will have at least 6 locomotives featuring the system again at Railex on May 25/26 at Aylesbury. I must say the response we have had has been overwhelmingly positive, with many people asking for information on how the system works and wanting to know when it wouldl be available commercially.
