My layout uses Peco Code 80 Insulfrog points throughout (I have learned my lesson and will be using electro frog for my next project). Most of my locos run well on it (a 37 and a 101) but I have two Farish Class 47s which continually stall on the points.
I have ensured that the track is clean, have cleaned the wheels thoroughly and adjusted the pickups but none of this seems to have made any difference. Can anyone suggest some options for resolving this problem? It was suggested to me by a vendor at the recent Perth show that I should add extra pickups to the locos (presumably to the middle wheels). This is something I have never done before and would appreciate any information anyone can give me on this.
Can anyone tell me why the 47s struggle with Insulfrog points? I know there is an area of dead track but the 47 has 8 wheels with pickups and I would have thought this would be enough to pass over an insulfrog without any problems?
Thanks,
Fraser
