  1. I thought Atlantic had a good deal with their digital editions as you got access to the archive of Garden Rail. Sadly it seems Warners didn't support that inovation
  2. Nice video, who'd have thought you'd get nostalgic over mgr trains.
  3. Could another factor be simply that Mattel, don't want them to continue? After all Bachmann seem to be making a far better job of the Thomas range, the tooling matches the existing Thomas TV/Film characters, they're constantly expanding the range and cover more scales. Possibly Mattel were looki g for a single 'global' license rather than a regional one (which would be much easier for them to oversee). I imagine we will see the global restriction removed and the Bachmann Thomas range available through UK retailers, after all the G scale range is already widely available here, and I doubt Bachmann are blind to the rumours that most of the Skarloey and Rheanus production ended up on the UK (most no doubt on the pretext of 'well I can build a small Thomas layout for the boy/grandson')
  4. Got my Green NCB no.6 the other day. Just need to build that shunting plank I promidrd myself!
  5. Is that bend visible in the flesh or some sort of optical illusion in the pic?

  8. Just looking at these, as an alternative to my ahem 'rustic' carpentry skills. Has anyone used them? What have you managed to cram into them? Pete
  9. How about a GW Saint, either in Railroad or super detailed form GW/LMS Variations of tbe 08 How about a GW Saint, either in Railroad or super detailed form GW/LMS Variations of tbe 08
  10. Just has the feeling that only a few punters more and it would be rammed!
  11. Quite a busy show, fair mix of things to see. The one concern I would have it seems to have outgrown the LC2 Hall already, and Swansea isn't overly blessed with exhibition venues, certainly none with parking more convenient than the LC has (Guildhall has awful, parking and not easy to find if your not a local.
  12. I don't think the issue is that there aren't cleverer ways of making well running small locos, but if such clever methods allow a rtr loco to be produced in the sub £100 bracket.
  13. Not wishing to.poor soothing petrol in troubled waters. But they pic of the chassis block seems to suggest there is an element of curvature there representing the underside of the boiler. Which is pretty much exactly as Hornby did with the Peckett.
  14. I think the skirt is an acceptable compromise, especially where the 'gap' is barely noticable on the prototype. The pics above at wirksworth are pretty much extreme close up, for most of us the equivalent of the model on your palm held as close to your face as you can maintain focus. Hattons are probably damned if they do damned if they don't. Compromise the other way, less weight and a smaller (dare we say coreless) motor, no room for sound, non standard dcc socket but a more defined void under the boiler, then we will have complaints that the model is 'gutless' 'designed for collectors' etc.etc.
  15. Wouldnt it better better modelled as empty, wuth a few grounds staff, unless you want to set the timeframe for your layout as 90mins on a saturday afternoon?
  16. Interesting to read this and compare peoples expectations v practicalities.
  17. For me some n gauge medium sized wr medium sized tanks 56xx, 41xx. 61xx and we'll I'm sure you could do a better job in n of the 42xx than Hornby did in OO
  18. I doubt it is a full on exhibition, however it;s the only one in my living memeory in Swansea (though I do recall quite a large one in the Guildhall when i was a kid). the question is..Is it worth cutting my holiday short to take alook?
  19. I've noticed advertising for a "model railway show" at the Waterfront musuem in Swansea, however details of exactly what this show entails don't seem to be available, but it is free! Cananyone shed any light?
