Entry by cash or card or either? It's helpful to say these days.

Both or either

What I am sensing from this thread are those who like to attend a show for various reasons and would go to it irrespective of which layouts and traders would be present. Where as other people seem to want an on line show guide before they decide if the show is worth going to.
No matter how much pre show information you need or don't need thankfully people are still attending model railway exhibitions and hopefully enjoying them.

Sadly this year DEMU Showcase and Ben's holiday plans clashed so we don't have the pleasure of Heljan's company this year.
However we do have Rainbow models, TCC Diecast, Kernow, and DC Kits attending and I am sure will help you chose the right class 47 for you. So please do come along to DEMU Showcase 15th and 16th June at Sutton Coldfield Town Hall.
Ben enjoy and have a good time on your break.

Haven't made up your mind which Class 11 Jocko you want, why not see them in the flesh on the Kernow stand at DEMU Showcase 15th and 16th June at Sutton Coldfield.
I am sure there will also be the cute Ruston PWM shunters and the Brush class 48 type 4s as well for you to consider purchasing.

I am not an N Gauge modeller so I don't normally look at the latest announcements by Graham Farish, but knowing Graham Farish the new models will form part of the Bachmann display at DEMU Showcase 15th and 16th June at Sutton Coldfield.
Also at the exhibition will be the N Gauge Society with their stand.

Not being a "modern image" diesel and electric modeller I have no idea what a class 175 or a class 180 are but I am sure i will find out by visiting the RevolutioN stand at DEMU Showcase 15th and 16th June at Sutton Coldfield Town Hall.

I wonder if the Dusty Bin liveries will be on show at DEMU Showcase on 15th and 16th June at Sutton Coldfield Town Hall?
I don't know if they will be announced but do come along and see the fantastic models RevolutioN will have on display.

Taking of colour, I started this topic on the subject of colour back in 2017.
I photographed three models, all Bachmann, two green and one blue. It was mainly looking at how different auto white balance setting on a Nikon D70 camera affected the colour, but with front and back light (natural daylight).
The models I used were a Blue Bachmann Class 40 top row, Green Class 40 middle row and the slightly less saturated Class 37 bottom row. I have also put these on black and white backgrounds to show how the contrast of the background can affect the perception of the colour.
Having worked in the film and TV industry for over 25 years and now head a degree course in visual effects and editing, including colour grading, I tend to regard what a colour is more about how it has been recorded, and how it has been processed as much as what the original colour is, as that is a key aspect of colour grading. Also the conditions the source of the colour has been through especially as red fades more than some other colours in sunlight.
For those who remember how yellow clothing changed to white under sodium street lights. That is an extreme example of how the lighting conditions affect colour, but different types of film, different cameras, different colour/white balances, the angle of view, how the film, negative or positive have been stored, different times of day (the golden hour for instance), sun or artificial light, a mix of the two, if there are filters on the camera lens, colours on the light sources if they are artificial, and of course how long the subject has been left out in the sun all affect the colour, and that is before dust of different areas, brick dust, limestone dust, sand etc. all add their tint to the surface being shown.
This doesn’t mean that there is no right and wrong, and trying to emulate the original paint mixes is important, but the journey of your reference material has to be taken into account.
The one thing I would say I do with regard to colour is that I always weather with a little Humbrol brick red and chocolate in the mix, as my layout is an urban brick built town. A little colour wash on everything does tend to make them all feel like they belong in the same location. A technique I have also used in film, TV and also graphic design to make things just sit together better.
I hope that is helpful.
JamieHi Jamie
A very helpful post.
Colour perception is a very difficult subject. One I am no expert. Thankfully our eyes do see same colour differently and the same time. If you have an object that is all the same colour you know what shape it is because of how the light falls on it. Some parts will be brighter directly in the light source and some duller in the shadows. Which is the correct colour, the side facing the light, the side in the shadow or the side around the back which you can't see?

To help make your mind up to which class 60 you would like come and see them at DEMU Showcase 15th and 16th June on the Cavalex stand.
Plus should you want more information about the real locomotives the Class 60 Preservation Group will be next to Cavalex.

I know it is hard to make up your mind on which Class 31 you would like just by looking at the internet so why not come and see them on the Bachmann stand at DEMU Showcase 15th and 16th June.
I am sure the Bachmann team will have lots more for you to cast your eyes over.

Still undecided on which Brush Type 2 to buy, visit DEMU Showcase and see the models on the Accurascale stand.

Unsure which class 66 to buy, then visit DEMU Showcase 15th and 16th June, Accurascale will be present with their fine models for all to see.

There’s one of these , or very similar, preserved at the Scottish Railway Preservation Society at Bo’ness, see link. I think it is, or was, undergoing restoration.

Might help with modelling attempts?
Thank you, the photo in the link is great. Plus the information is also very helpful.

What a great photo, no not the shinny new English Electric Type 3 on the Sheffield Pullman or even the Derby Long Underframed Diesel Multiple Unit but not one but two of those tiny early tamper machines, side on so ideal for helping with dimentions for making a model of one.

Just out of interest............
On a related subject, the Thompson RF in this shot is the 'wrong way round'. That is to say meals will have to be taken through the RF's dining area and through to the diners in the Gresley Pantry Second.
It's a northbound express, just south of Stoke Summit (that wonderful bridge in the distance still stands, carrying no more than a farm track) in the summer of 1959. At least someone has taken the trouble to clean the loco's cabside numbers.
Hello Tony
With the RF the "wrong way round" not only do the waiters have a longer walk to serve the mere mortals but the posh people have the indignity to have to pass through the kitchen. 😉

Have you ever considered a Geep or two, this layout looks very suited to the other side of the Atlantic too.
Deffo don't do any passenger facilities on this one, it would look well out of place I think.
Like layouts with a end of branch halt that need a massive traction depot to serve it.

I say there Mr Peters what a spiffing plan for a model railway. Have you considered it being shunted by a Jinty with 4Fs and Ivatt 2-6-0s arriving with the goods trains.
One thing I notice there is no platform for the bubble car to discharge its passengers. I am sure you can fit it in.

I will put these links to E Bay on here as this thread has quite a few modellers of the LNER persuasion.
Scratchbuilt D16 with fancy running plate...........looks like it needs pick-ups and wires to go.
A J17 again looks scratchbuilt
A J20 with Belpaire boiler so not suitable for us BR muddelers. Possibly scratchbuilt.
A J16 which must be scratchbuilt as I have never seen one before.
Please be kind to each other and say if you are bidding on one so you don't end up bidding against each other.
