Keith,
I have applied static grass to my baseboards with the electronics in place on the underside including servos. However I do not switch on any of the systems such as the DCC or auxiliary power only because I do not want to short out. Just make sure you protect the points etc. in the same manner you would as when ballast laying.

Why change, it works and is easy to navigate. Combining the sections into one in my view would be chaos for the user.

When programming put a resistor in line to create extra load.

Return the set to Hattons explaining what you expect and they should sort it for you.

Why not refer to the Digitrax web site "www.digitrax.com" for more information.

What's the difference between the Mk2F DCC and the Mk2F, apart from the price.

I thought a hair dryer might be interesting.... the dark art of heating and cooling plastic!
At present I am giving the body a 24hr squeeze to a flat non-warped shape.
Cheers
A hot air paint stripper will provide more heat.

I don't see catering as an issue, you only had to go outside and there is M&S, Costa, Prezzo, McDonalds, KFC, Bella Pasta, Asda, Ikea, and Pizza Express to name a few, and there were plenty of people seeming to do so.
A good selection of British layouts over the three floors and yes there were lots of RTR traders, but isn't that the norm for GETS?
Why be encouraged to go outside the venue to be "catered" for, to my mind the show organisers should provide "adequate" catering for the punters. I also thought Gaydon is a superior venue. The GETS is one to miss next year.

Can someone please explain what these parts are? From looking online I think they are for the corners of the bogies but I’m not 100% certain so don’t wanna glue them yet in case they aren’t.
Cheers
Edit: Solved now thanks to Facebook. Cheers
Go on give us a clue, what are they and where do they fit.

Try resetting CV 54. Place your loco on your layout with room either end say about 6 foot. Set CV54 = 0. Press F1. The loco should briefly runaway at speed and stop. The motor should now run smoothly.

Please advise as I can't get the lights working and it looks like becoming an ebay bargain soon.
Dapol have told me no changes have been made (or are un-aware that their factory have changed it) and nothing needs to be changed for the lights to work, but there are all kinds of seemingly after-thought switches inside the thing.
All in all very confusing and overly complex for an everyday feature that other manufacturers achieve with elegant simplicity.
Check the instruction sheet. Using DC I found there were no problems with the lights working directionally. DCC operation is explained in the DCC instructions. Using a 6 function decoder, if the cab lights are required, and a 4 function decoder for no cab lights. Fitting your own decoder one needs to check the function mapping of said decoder and adjust to suit the AUX 1 and AUX 2 outputs to your respective F switch (Function). I used F8 for the AUX 1 function on a LokSound V4 decoder.
I'm pleased with the model it looks good and runs well, but I can't find the cab light switches on the PCB. My only niggle is with the buffer beam hook, a Hornby or Bachmann type would have been better.

Have you brought this to Dave's attention or did you want to post it here first?
Should one need to ?.

I read this topic with incredibility and my only comment is "what a way to run a business and on an open forum".

A couple of weeks ago I bought the blue D6327. I finally got around to running it and on DC there were no problems, the directional lights worked but I haven't bothered with the cab lights. When a DCC decoder (V4 Loksound) was fitted the lights only worked in one direction, all else worked OK. I replaced the decoder 2 more times with known working ones with the same result. It seems odd the lights work on DC but not on DCC. Has anyone else with the 22 experienced the same problem.
Mike
All sorted.

A very good diesel gala in a great setting with an excellent diesel turnout. I particularly wanted to see the Class 45 and alas my video camera packed up on the day. Apparently Western Campaigner has suffered a transmission problem.

PS anyone know where I can get a video camera with an external mic connection.

A confused bit of reporting
First it is the underground water supply for the pumping engine, then it is a vacuum chamber!
Keith
Gleamed from the report
"It moved the trains by extracting air from pipes laid between the rails, using pumping stations along the track.
The pumping stations used water from the underground reservoir to create steam."

Hi Dave,
Would you be able to provide further details on the DCC Sound version for the new 66's?
Stuff like the make/model/type of sound decoder, type of speaker and source of the sound files that will be used?
Very much appreciated.
Cheers
Steve
I had an email dialogue with Hattons on this subject. The reply advised the decoder will be the ESU LokSound V4 but they have not yet decided upon the sound programme. The speaker is also to be decided.

I still think their DCC Sound version for this new Class 66 could have been lower i.e. sub £250 instead of a hefty £265.
The £265 sound fitted model is £115 more than the non DCC loco, that includes fitting and probably with a decent speaker. Should the sound decoder be the ESU Select type at this point in time I would agree with you but if it is aV4 or Zimo chip the price is competitive. It would be nice if the sound package was similar to the SLW Class 24. In any event I will probably place an order.

My biggest gripe at exhibitions is the valence added to the front of a layout to hide the legs and accumulated detritus that is mandatory under a layout at a show.
Invariably stuck to the front of the baseboard facia with some form of pins, and hanging there all creased and slack, not unlike Fanny Flopdrawers' unwashed and un-ironed bloomers.
I'm trying to fathom what this comment has to do with the title of this thread.

A fair point, but when your vision is not 20/20 and you have 2 black panniers 20 feet away in a loco shed with 10 other locos round them, it becomes a bit hit and miss.
Why not just get closer to the loco so you can see the number, 20/20 vision or not.

Just out of interest has anyone bought a 800004 set and had no problems at all with the set, including no running and derailing issues?
Thank you in advance.
Yes I have one and straight out of the box no problems.

On a more general note I would also comment that it appears to me that proportionately significantly fewer onliners talk in detail about performance compared with appearance unless possibly it is slow speed running. (e.g. 1361 splashergate vs its performance) It would be nice to hear more contributors talk about roadholding thro curves/points(advise type)/haulage capacity/whether the motor gets hot in constant use/how noisy it is (no point fitting sound if it already imitates a concrete mixer or whines like a Typhoon at take-off) /how many volts to get the thing started/etc
Good points to illustrate the positives of the Horny IEP. My model will negotiate (all code 75) both at speed and dead slow through Peco short, medium and long radius points without any problems whilst passing through minimum radius of 22" of curves. I have run the model in excess of 4 hours on my layout that includes a 9 road fiddle yard through the full speed spectrum of my Digitrax system. The model runs through all speeds very quietly so quiet I cannot hear the motor as opposed to a Bachmann Voyager, 37,or 47. The motor does not heat up excessively nor does the fitted decoder (Lenz Gold). The finish is first class and I'm really impressed with the level of decoration. I will be fitting sound once I have sorted the sounds and will be using the compartment Hornby have allocated for the speaker.
