  1. Why the heck is anyone thinking about a return of imperial measurements for shops?

Anyone else think this is a recipe for profiteering on customers by mixing styles on price per.

Probably intended to make himself popular with the nice Mr. Murdoch.

Cue some opinion column just before the next election: "THE SUN SAYS - VOTE FOR THE BLOND W_N_ER AND KEEP US AWAY FROM THOSE PESKY FROGGIES! UP Y**RS MACRON!!"

Of course, it's always possible that Murdoch might instruct his editors to be rather less restrained with "their" opinions. (Well, he might.)

It's also possible that I might be very much mistaken ... .

...even remember buying stuff in lb / oz, pints / fl.oz...

Like many other people, we buy our milk in pints.  Although marked in litres per regulations, lots of supermarkets sell 1, 2, 4 and 6 pint bottles.

And iirc, wood widths/thicknesses have only recently changed to metric - we've been using mixed metric/imperial systems for decades e.g. 2.4m long 2"x1" prepared.

Yes it's messy, but people always seem to cope...

We've done OK with our hybrid metric/Imperial measurements so far and Imperial measurements haven't been taught in schools since the 1970s.

Yet another "Dead Cat" to distract from PartyGate and our PM's personal life.
