  1. This is the only photograph I have of this type of wagon controllers, the is a corresponding set on the other side of the bunker that clamps on the emties and moves them forward for this set to catch an enable the whole set to be loaded

  2. Long overdue update on Shirebrook.

All the track work is complete and I have had a few running sessions

I ran into a problem by the fact now the layout is homed in my loft, width of the layout is just over 4' and I couldn't reach the back of the boards to start the scenic work, so have had to strip the layout back down to enable access to the rear half of the layout. Anyhow I have made good progress over the summer and should have the main running lines back up in the next couple of weeks.

    Main running line trackwork.

  3. In conjunction with Simon, I am working on a Freight roster for the Heaton Lodge layout project.

I have a 1983 WTT that I am using for a reference and have identified most trains but a few are eluding me.

Can anyone help with identifying what the following workings would have carried.

8M89  Healey Mills - Arpley Sidings

    7M92 Scunthorpe - Ashburys

    8M34 Healey Mills - Garston

8E77 Walton Junction - Healey Mills

    8E07 Ardwick - Healey Mills

  4. Using some of the usefull information contained in the above posts, I have found that during the late 70's, early 80's (my modelling period), the Tuxford Oil was sent to Llandarcy refinery. The train was pathed daily M/F and ran as 6V01, routing via Rotherwood sidings where a loco change used to take place.

The Tuxford - Rotherwood section was usually worked by a Class 47.

The last train to leave Tuxford was in 1988 and was worked by a pair of Clas 20's.

  5. As part of my research for my Shirebrook layout, has anyone any information regarding Oil traffic from the BP Terminal at Tuxford on the High Marnham Branch.

I have details on some workings to the Oil Terminal at Warsop, on the same line, but that was a distribution depot that received its supply from Stanlow, I presume the facility at Tuxford was used for loading Crude produced by a number of small wells located in the Tuxford area.

  6. Sorry for no recent updates, here is the latest.

All the boards are now completed, I have had to replace the fiddle yard curve boards, I originally was using the left over boards from my previous 4mm layout but they where not very stable and gave me running issues especially with the curves being quite tight for 7mm. Any way the permanent laying of the curves and fiddle yard is now under way.

Next major job will be to build the actual shed, I am using 2 x Heljan Diesel depots (which rather conveniently is a copy of Shirebrook), once this is built I can lay the shed roads.

On the stock front, just finished my JLTRT kit of 44008.

An interesting project was the conversion of this £10 Lima Toad, into a ZXO Crane support wagon, this particular one was based at Healey Mills, so could very well have visited the SB area.

  7. Hi Richard Pike

    I've sent you a PM

    Regards

    Norman

Norman, I have responded twice to you by PM but you must not be receiving them for some reason.

Easiest method of contact is look up one of his many post's in the DCC sound thread and PM him directly.

  8.

    Richard

I like the decoder installation very much - it looks similar to the ESU L package i.e. decoder and breakout board.  You mentioned that Paul Chetter supplied wa sthat direct or through Digitrains.  I hope it's a good price.

    Norman

    Norman,

Direct from Paul at a very good price.

  9. I have just installed sound into my Peak and must say the model is a vast improvement over other Heljan models, very DCC friendly, the wiring did not need extending and wiring colours are now common, i.e right hand pick up's are red, left hand black etc.

Decoder I have used, supplied by Paul Chetter, is the new Zimo 696 which mounts onto a sub connector board which is really usefull should I want to have the Decoder modified at any time as it simply unplugs leaving all the wiring in place.

  10. With the same bogie arrangement as the class 40 I did wonder whether it might be something like this - I know the back to backs were too tight on the 40 - they haven't done it again have they?

Lets hope its something simple that gets rectified quickly.
