  1. I am sure it will be obvious to a lot of people, but not to me, not being very good at these things. How did you do the gravestones, please? They are very effective.
  2. I had a slide rule at University. It was very good for drawing straight lines, except that the cursor got in the way! Never did work out what all the numbers on it were for.
  3. Took some finding -AEDICULUS, in Roman mythology, the deity who presided over the construction and conservation of buildings.
  4. Just to straighten out the question of sale of goods, any display or advert or offer for sale constitutes an invitation to treat, as stated previously. The offer is always made by the purchaser, and the vendor can choose whether or not to accept the offer. A pre-order is merely an advanced offer to purchase. No contract is made until the vendor accepts. Obviously if there has been a long delay, there is the good chance of a price rise. You can not expect shops to sell items at a loss - if they did not make a profit, they would not last long. What the shop can not do with a pre-order is charge you an increased price, without giving you the option of cancelling or accepting the increased price. My own experience with Hattons relates to an item that took over 18 months from pre-order to delivery. They honoured the original price. I was only charged when the goods were despatched, as I would expect. I think this has probably all been stated in different places before. My comments are based on what I can remember from my legal training.
  5. Having read about your tile laying in the Model Rail supplement, it is good to see it in action. I am in no position to take issue with the master, but it does seem illogical that you can use the same size "tiles" for both 0 and 00 scale. I recall reading somewhere that you cut postcards into 7mm squares, which, scaled up, would give a tile nearly 2' across in 00. Is it just a case of one seeing what one expects to see?
  6. Amazing. It is probably a silly question, but is the talc just spread loose? I would have thought it would come off when you apply the wood dye.
  7. Stunning work, as usual. Must get boring turning out such fantastic work every time, and so quickly!
  8. As usual Allan's work is outstanding. I am still not convinced, howver, that he does not sneek in a few photos of 12" to the foot buildings, just to confuse us!
