Yes it was MS&LR - running into Chester Northgate.   The overbridge is still in-situ but the station site is a housing development.  The trackbed is a cycleway and footpath.  (Alisdair) 

Perhaps the short stub siding behind the platform accommodated horse boxes, and flat wagons for carriages, arriving by train for the landed gentry and guests to the nearby Shotwick Park estate?  (Alisdair)

May I am also being a pedant on this layout?   The cover image on the RM shows telegraph poles on both sides of the tracks with different numbers of arms on the poles.   It is unlikely that the wires would cross the tracks.  There is a pole up on the bank over the tunnel mouth.  Would the wires not have been gathered together into a cable tray / conduit and then fixed to the tunnel for the length of the tunnel?  (Alisdair)

I go along with Peter E's thoughts on the type of containers used and the demand from customers of a guaranteed service which would have achieved the full train each night.  (Alisdair) 

The Condor was introduced and running a regular service in the days before intermodals were on the scene.   

Maybe the Condor containers which could not be loaded one night went the next. So always a full train in a fixed rake.

And there may have been empty ones travelling as the demand for containers perhaps varied at each end.

Do we know what was carried in the containers and who were the customers?  Was it regulars who used it and therefore the loadings would have generally been known in advance? (Alisdair)

I used to see the southbound Condor most evenings when it headed south from Glasgow - and there was never any empty flat wagons with no containers in the consist - if I can use an Americanism. (Alisdair)

There are comments on this thread about basic errors with the model of the Fell   I cannot comment on the rights or wrongs of the perceived faults.  I know nothing about this particular model. But surely the test is this. 

If it is a must that you must have that model of the Fell on your layout do you still purchase it despite knowing its faults?  And do you take into account the reviews in the model press? Or do you walk on by and not make the purchase because the faults are too much for your sensitivities and you end up not having the model you must have. (Alisdair)
