  1. Anyone else think in terms of red frogs and black frogs when wiring points?

Yes I still use red and black wire for my feeds - and yellow for the polarity switching for "common frog" feeds to the Peco SL-E's!  Actually doing mine right now as part of layout rebuilding!

  2. After inactivity for 8 years i have moved house and decided to build a new DCC equipped  WCML  based layout in the loft. Due to Covid-19 I can only have the floor installed at the beginning of February 2021. I have reclaimed a large part of track, points and scenic items from my previous layout Boston Junction. The space available to me will be 18ft x 11ft. At present everything is on hold so have bought 1 new loco which is a Hornby Class 87 87001 and the Metcalfe brick viaduct to compliment my own Bachmann 4 car Virgin voyager, Bachmann Freightliner class 66   66952 and Hornby Virgin Trains HST (Railroad version) with  2 Hornby Mk3 Tso. I sold all my other stock from Boston Junction as I thought that I would not have the opportunity to have a layout again.

Sounds like a good project and I look forward to watching your progress.

      Keep safe and well.

  3. Why can so many sellers on ebay not be bothered to leave feedback? It's only a small niggle, but maybe I'll be petty and shop elsewhere.

I agree Pete. I sold a good few items over the past few years. In the early days I always got feedback but in the last year I noticed a sharp decline. Only about 50 percent leave it now. Disappointed when you make sure all the stuff you sell is good quality, well packed and sent out very promptly.

Hard to avoid the dreaded Virgin if you want to travel up to Scotland by rail. I can't stand how they are into everything. It's like a rash.

  5. New slant on 'delay due to leaves on the line' Abellio Greater Anglia has bus replacement service on Ipswich to Felixstowe and Marks Tey to Sudbury for a week now and ongoing, due to wheel damage from 'Autumn rail conditions'. They say on average, 2 dmus per day are suffering wheel damage.

Shocking fact is that the privatised industry has no spare units or loco/stock these days, preferring to use cheaper bustitutions when there's even the slightest problem. Cheap and nasty "service" for top whack fares. Very unfair on the passengers.

  6. I see Vermin East Coast now have security guards on the trains with obligatory hi vis vest and the words "Security Ambassador" emblazoned on their backs. A dry train as far as Newcastle, presumably beyond there a special seal is broken and passengers become much more civilised?

Typical OTT Virgin - just how do they manage to cheapen the look of everything?

  7. Euston to Mancs Picc today on a Pendolino; seat facing backwards, no table or electric socket, distinct 'waft' from the loo - felt like slumming it compared to the usual SV 221 to Prestatyn...!

Though I always found SV's to be extremely smelly too! Travelled on East Coast 2 days last week. Mk3's and Mk4's still very comfortable. Proper trains! Bring back BR!
