Complete and utter tosh these days .... if a decoder or controller is NMRA compliant (not necessarily warranted as not every maker has theirs tested due to cost for the privilege) then they should play happy together. You do get the odd clash of wills, but in general most all work reasonably well together.

To program a T-T smart screen at home you need a controller that will allow easy control of F0 to F9 as these are the keys repeatedly used to program in messages and send how you want to control those messages to the smart screen. It is fairly time consuming when writing up to ten messages and defining how they will be displayed.

Fortunately a friend of mine has developed an interface to write messages and send controls to the screen more easily via a PC, but this only works with Hornby Elite or eLink controllers at present as they can connect by USB to a PC. In essence you type in your message, press go and the ‘app’ does all the F-key presses for you, much faster than you could do it by hand and saving wear and tear on the controller key pad. At some stage this will be linked to from the smart screen product page for download.

Can I ask did the link for the software for fast programming get added to the homepage or is it available elsewhere thanks

And what are they charging? If it's £50 then that's out of order in my opinion.

  4. Thanks Tom.

It’s the new ones R60177. the shop I got them is is splitting them into singles did wonder why it said pack of 2 on the box when I got home and the looked here for info on the other wagon numbers available

  5. Not impressed to say the least.
Looks good out of the box.  start the running in ready for doc to be fitted and it wobbles clunks over point work then throws its bogie out as clip is snapped back.
Why use such a old way of mouting the boiges and on a model close to £200

Only arrived today and did 1 1/2 laps at least they allow a 21 pin decoder now

Yes it does - I thought I had blown the chip, so I did a CV8 to 8.

The pantograph servo still didn't operate.  So I checked the CVs against the default settings on the small card that's supplied with the decoder.

I had to change CV181 back to 6.  All was OK after that.  It had reset itself to 0, hence pantograph didn't work.  Phew!

cheers was thinking the same tonight just stoped working. then thinkinh whats gone pop but everything else ok so off to try this fix first.

  7. here is my  little French thing. Had this one for 13 years now and have had many happy hours flying round/ working on it. its still a 1.4 but has had a lot of work to the engine brakes ect. biggest upgrade was fitting EFI using a adaptronic ecu to control it all. last time it was mapped was a safe 215BHP @25 psi.  Always had a Renault of some sort and have a 2000 plate clio and a megane sport but these cars from the 80/90's just love them

    Hi

Received my 90 today, BR Inter city Financial Times and have the same problem with one bogie. My problem is with the bogie at the pantograph end. Have arranged to return mine to retailer.

Point of interest, the fault seems to be with the mounting of the bogie gear tower, however the drive shaft is still located and drives both sets of wheels of the affected bogie, so a test run won't necessarily identify if you have an affected model, unless you check the bogies for sideways and forward backward movement that shouldn't  be there if the bogie was properly in a central pivot point.

i have finally got round to running mine in today but after i increased the speed from running in it sounds as though it has wheel flats runs well but dose not sound 100% right.

  9. next time it dose this check the connections on the network cable between both boards. also just unplug them to see if they boot up on there own so to speak. had a similar issue where the some times all was well and other times not. i  traced it to faulty terminal crimp on the cable in the end.

  10. What a waste of a shed....

my thoughts as well. when i was younger my uncle used to take us round here in 87 or 88 all trains were long gone but all the track and gantry's were still there was fascinated as a 8/9 year old boy  just a shame its now all gone
