Sorry Retro-man... I did say with 2 people...

MY MISTAKE ALSO... 100 a day, 2 people = 5 working days, not weeks... OOOPS!

But worth remembering that that 5 minutes per package is rather quick.

I sell on eBay and have done for many years. Assuming that I have a suitable box and don't have to fabricate one, I'm sure it doesn't take me 5 mins per parcel, including writing the address by hand.....

    Hi Tim,

I am too.  I ordered mine quite late though but I imagine there's quite a few to send out still.

Only as an exercise to reassure myself (or anyone else!), I thought it through - and it's only guesses on numbers, I should point out... If one model is prepared and wrapped every 5 minutes, for 8 hours 20 minutes a day, that's 100 a day... with 2 people, that's 5 weeks (working days) to send out 1000 models... assuming no toilet breaks and nothing 'Fell' that needs attention elsewhere ;)

If KR Models can give a rough idea on percent done, that would be great - 25, 50, 75?

Really looking forward to mine but appreciate it may be a bit longer yet.

    Cheers,

    Ixion.

I'm glad I'm not alone! We have no idea how many people are involved, or how many orders there were to fulfil. I won't bother KR yet then.

Its was often worked with Black 5s while the Class 28s were still booked on as they were often the standby for when one of them conked out.

Rumour has it they would couple the Black 5 inside the Diesel to make it look like the natty old steam loco needed saving :wink_mini:

Wasn't it generally done that way anyway to prevent nasty solid bits from the steam exhaust getting into the diesel engine?

  4. So, to sum up, they're being dispatched in alphabetical order of first name, except when they're not. If you live outside our esteemed isles, you may get it earlier, or not.

If it was chronological, I ordered late on the last day, cos I forgot to do it earlier.

Colin with a C here has not got an  e mail either, and Ireland with an I comes before UK with a U (but after England with an E)

That bloke in Australia should have got his before the other bloke in Canada. lol  :)

    Republic comes after Great...

Flipping ‘eck and no disrespect intended but ‘Diesels to the scrapyards’ has just sold for £77 on eBay!

Yes, I was watching it. Another out of print Strathwood went for £98 recently.

Now then...What’s a ”stacking bid” anyway ? :scratchhead:

Presumably it's where the same person places several bids on the same item, in one go, as an attempt to tell other bidders that they are "serious" about winning a certain item.

Original worksplate; note the single square corner that abutted the horizontal lining...

... and the numberplate - which similarly abutted and continued the lining.

    Urban myth it is, then....

Give that man a cigar! Yes, the bogie has been made with the guard irons reversed. I wouldn't have spotted it, but it was mentioned in the RM review a couple of numbers back and that's how I knew. In the article it was said that new bogie frames would be sent out to all customers for self-fitting. As a replacement was due, I didn't want to make anything of it.

I have had a look, and it's only the one screw holding the bogie in place and I suppose if you had no use for the front coupler, then it could be just a case of turning it around, though I don't know if the NEM pocket would thwart that approach or not.

Personally, it's no big deal and I shall await a replacement bogie frame in due course. Another teensie-weensie 'error' that the article picked up was that the makers' plate says 'English Electic' - which I couldn't see without viewing the above photo enlarged!!

    Cheers,

    Philip

It may be an urban myth, but I'd heard that was how it was spelt on the real one.....I have no evidence for this though.

I was out for a very pleasant stroll earlier today along part of the old railway line from Pulborough to Fittleworth, when I saw this bird. It was quite a distance away, and needed full zoom; hence the picture being blurred. I am not sure what it is. My initial thought was a cormorant, but the back of the head and front of the neck is white, and the bird has some sort of crest by the looks of things. Its neck isn't as slender as a cormorant either, and its bill seems shorter as well.

    Any thoughts?

I once got a birthday card with an illustration of an  LMS liveried Castle, travelling through Sydney Gardens...

And I got a maroon liveried "City of Truro" (GWR 4-4-0 not class 47) one this Christmas....:scared:

I can afford the new ones as cost not a problem, but rather have the older ones due to easier servicing,  Tim, I have used steve before as he did a class 47 respray for me 2 years ago, from green to pre tops blue, I'm banned from lord and butler anyway  due to a comment i put on here which as a customer i'm perfectly entitled to do.

Steve is nothing to do with L and B now, nor is Martin, and they seem happier for it.
