  1. Ok, a few pictures of progress so far. I have lowered the layout by 10 inches and made it a foot narrower so that my grand daughters can play trains easier. I have used shaper sheet for the steep embankments. loads to do yet. wiring up the cobalt classic motor to an S lever was not frustrating at all- honest guv.
  2. Give it a few days, something is coming....
  3. That looks like a lot of fun.
  4. I have been working on the underframe for the 142. A bit of guess work required. I have tried to follow a few photos, but finding clear images has been a challenge. No one appears to have turned a real 142 upside down which is annoying. I have also drilled out the lights. Dougal.
  5. Well that looks like a well used magazine. Thanks for sharing. I will see if I can track down a copy. Dougal
  6. A little more work today. I fitted the doors. The end door opposite the toilet appears to be missing something. Looks like I need a piece of brass to enclose the door side by the white metal connecting door.I will look through my box and see if I missed anything. Soldering the console was fun. Some very odd angles to work in. I think next weekend I will make a start on the chassis floor and also drill out the space for the destination panel and the lights. No drama so far with the build. Dougal. Anyone know if the 142 had a toilet in each coach or just one for the two car set?
  7. Almost missed the replies. The kit is a PRMRP kit.
  8. Ok, turns out this will be a 142 not a 143. Also turns out that I got the seating arrangement incorrect. I have just repositioned half the seating as in this style, half faced forwards and half backwards. It is amazing how many differences there were. Dougal
  9. I have made a start on the 143. The body shell was straightforward. The interior sub assembly is posed inside. I have fitted the larger seats. The cab detail is cool and even comes with a control console. Lots of tinkering to go yet. Dougal.
  10. Hello, out of interest what motor and gearbox do you use? I am building a pacer and a sprinter and want to hide the motor as best I can. Dougal
  11. The wheels and transfers are done now. I am awaiting the sprung buffers I have finished a couple of TTA’s. Dougal
  12. I purchased 3 PCA kits a few weeks ago. Really impressed with them. I am going for subtle weathering. I have yet to order the wheels, transfers etc. I am experimenting with MIG streak effect paint. Dougal.
  13. Hello Julian, eBay from Lunia3d. Look up 3D printed O gauge and you will find loads of sellers. Dougal
  14. The Bagged clay facility has finally got a forklift. Seen here loading a solitary VEA. The 03 Bodyshell has been primed. The 56 has has snow ploughs added. Dougal.
  15. I have spent the weekend doing some more work on the 03. The underframe detail is done for now. I may add a bit more once I have got the chassis running- I don’t want any detail in the way of the connecting rods. The steps were scratch built as was the cab interior. This just slots in. I need to add a few more grab rails and door handles then the body shell is done. Dougal.
  16. With the 37 now fully finished, I have done a bit more work on the 03. Lots of rails added. Soldering the windscreen wipers was fun. Run out of brass wire, I will need to pop into the model shop. The body is resting on the foot plate area for now. Dougal.
  17. I succumbed and ordered a sound chip earlier than planned. I really should learn more self control.
  18. I finished the 37 today. Lights and cab interiors done. Decoder will be ordered next week. I also had time to pick some berries and make crumble. Dougal.
  19. Pretty much finished the 37 now. I will fit the lights next weekend. The cab floors will be fitted prior to this. She runs well. I had a short at times, which was a wiper pick up touching the side of the bogie whilst going round a curve. A little insulation tape sorted this out. Looking forward to sound fitting her, once Mrs Doyle lets me have my pocket money. Dougal.
  20. This weekend I have mostly been building bogies. The side frames fit snuggly and the bogies run nicely on my track. I need to add the steps (a bogger to solder) and a few bits, no idea what they are called. I have also started the 03. I have had to scratch build a few pieces- they are the brass bits. Coming along nicely. I really must get the 37 done first so I won’t be doing anymore to the 03 for now. Dougal
  21. Tamiya do a range of 1:48 kits- they might be suitable. Airfix do some 1:43 kits as well. Dougal
  22. 08232 at the fuel point, whilst a class 56 waits in the siding. 37299 has now been weathered and most of the decals applied. A mock up of the cab interior is fitted to test. Mrs Doyle giving the workers a piece of her mind, oblivious to the new fire hose fitted. Dougal.
