If you're unsure whether to get the ATW one or not, do it...

The colour match with their 150 and Hornby's 153 is good too 👌🏻

Another beautiful model Bachmann, thank you. ATW blue/cream, ex-Alphaline variants, and maybe TfW as well please? 🙏🏻

I agree, Bachmann have done a great job. Even the sound is better on this one than on the East Midland livery one I have. Not sure if Bachmann have changed the speaker for a better one.

My sound fitted ATW arrived in Scoonie Hobbies on Thursday along with new batch of class 105's but could be other shops getting deliveries this week. Hopefully pick it up at the weekend.

Thanks Shunny. Mine's in at Tennents Trains, so I'll be off there shortly to collect it.

Weird. Here's my mate's photo of it on the stand at Ally Pally

Someone on a Facebook group has photographed his in a box, so some shops have got them! Mine is due early in the week 🤞🏻 Bachmann's site also said available.

Thanks, just have to wait and see if I get a call about the one I've ordered then.

Arriva TW versions apparently arriving in shops now!

Are you sure? Looking on the Bachmann website and searching for 158, this one isn't there now! It was earlier this month and was down for March/April delivery, but it's not there now. No idea what's happened, but maybe someone at Ally Pally could ask Bachmann what's happened to it. Or if it's on display in one of the cabinets.

I've just taken a punt and ordered an 8pin chip to have a play with. It will be interesting to see how well or otherwise it works.

Kris, Let us know how you get on, and anyone else who gets one or more. I'm particularly interested in the function outputs and how much control you have on the lighting. And if they are suitable for say a Hatton's 66, with all the options you have with the lighting on this loco. There's a big saving on buying an ESU Loksound decoder, compares with the Hornby 21 pin decoder, loaded with the class 66 sounds.

I’ve got a slightly random request if someone who has one of the new 37 models is willing to assist with please?

I’d like to know the measurement in millimetres from the buffers at one end to the edge of the last wheelset at the other end - reason being I want to get D6710 but not 100% sure if it’ll fit in the headshunt of my small BLT under construction, so would like to know whether the point blades will clear the last wheelset. I know it’ll be tight, hence the request for an accurate measurement with a tape measure if anyone can help.

    Thanks in advance.

    = 230mm. Hope that helps.

I fitted an EM1 to my 59/1, which gives good bass, but the volume is not great even turned right up. It is paired in series with a standard 4ohm speaker from DC Kits/Biffo, just wondering what others have set theirs up with? Here's a vid:

I've set my 59 up the same and I agree with the overall volume level. I've set CV63 (the volume CV) at 120 and that seems to give the best volume setting. Although it's OK when running just the 59, if you run say a Hatton's 66, then the volume level difference really does show up. Not sure if there's another way of increasing the volume.

  8. Here's a video of my class 59 59206 on a stone train. With Dapol, Accurascale and Revolution stone wagons. It's got good pulling capacity, even with the heavier Dapol wagons on the rear.

My two Deltics had similar intermittent running issues soon after delivery in the summer. They went back for repair. One of them has now started to have problems again, which I find strange. Does anyone know if motor issues can develop again after being repaired?

I’ve read on the Bachmann forum that some people have encountered problems with a “tight” motor. I’ve never experienced this before in any loco I’ve bought until my two Accurascale Deltics. Is it more common than my experience suggests?

Knapdale, Not heard of anyone else with this problem, other than Brian, but maybe people just send their models back for repair. But I have seen reports of a similar problem with the class 92 model. And looking at the comments on the review video it's more than one. I did ask Simon at Accurascale, who fixed mine, what the problem was, but never got a reply. Maybe Accurascale are aware of the problem, but don't want to say in case the alarm bells start ringing. Just hope I don't have a similar problem with any of the several class 37's I have on order.

More on going problems with my two Deltic's, after about 15 minutes of running on my layout they both start to run slower before both come to a halt and that's it for the day. it's very annoying, anyone know what maybe causing this problem please.

Brian, I've had the same problem. Initially the motor was just pulling too many amps, much more than the other two deltics I have. Then it started to develop the problems you are having. I emailed the support address and was told to return the loco but had to do via Rails the suppliers. Still waiting on it coming back from Rails, but I believe it to be fixed. I chased it via Simon at Accurascale. He had to fix another problem I had. I purchased a sound decoder and speaker from Accurascale to fit into a non-sound version. Couldn't get it to work at all, although the decoder worked correctly in another loco. Sent it back to Simon and he's sorted it out. Now back on the layout and sounding wonderful.

    Hi all,

All Revolution domestic models are sent via Royal Mail 48 hour tracked.  We do occasionally review this.  I am sorry if deliveries are being delayed but this of course is beyond our control.

    cheers

    Ben A.

Thanks Ben, is it possible to get the tracking numbers, if you are using Royal Mail 48 hour tracked please? That at least we are able to track the parcel thru the system.

Just received and tested my SFX 37418 from Kernow, lovers model and the detail is perfect, fuel tanks look parallel to me.

The sound on the other hand is awful. Sounds like something the Red Box Manufacturer would do with Toy Town Sound. The horns are pathetic, being a short blip when the loco is stationary and similar to a Toy Town Sound chip when moving. The  vibration seems to be from a plate between the 28mm speaker and the PCB. This should be sealed!

Ive programmed it and sat it on the track and without pressing anything the loco started up on its own and then refused to be quiet while being on the track, I’ve had this issue before, funnily enough on a Bachmann 158 also Zimo but never on an ESU decoder.

I fully agree with the horn sound. Why its speed related I've no idea! When stationary, as you say, it's a toot on the single horn sound and no better on the two-horn sound. If you run the loco at top speed, both horn sounds last for ages and isn't realistic in any way. Why the horn set up wasn't arranged as playable, as per the class 47 I've no idea. With the 47 horns, at least you have the option to change one of the horn sounds by changing a CV, which is a nice touch.

Have you used our service Tony?

Yes I have. I needed spares for a Deltic and waited over a month for them, despite a few email reminders. In fairness I did request the spares shortly after the locos had come into the country, so the spares may not have been available straight away.

My post wasn't aimed at knocking anyone, but it's annoying when people do so in such a manner. I've dealt with both Accurascale and Bachmann on a few occasions and found both to be very good. But who's to know who's actually the best. To be fair to all companies, we shouldn't really be asking for spares on any new locos, whether bits have fallen off and lost, or missing in the first place.

What amazes me about threads such as this is how pedantic today's modellers are about small details on locos yet can't be bothered to close-couple coaching stock.

Or turn off the loco red taillights when pulling coaches or wagons!

  15. The ETH plug on the front of the loco is easy to fit. You need to attach the cable to the junction box first, then fix the plug and the junction box to the loco and set them up so the cable is aligned with the plug. Do not glue the cable to the plug, as it will cause a problem if you need to remove the body obviously. See the photos here.

Fitting both ends with all the bits took me around 15 minutes, so it's not a time-consuming task. This is the Kernow exclusive 47484 . This time some of the bogie parts, such as half the brake actuators had already been fitted, so that saved some time.

Hopefully it does as I need a couple of Tractors at least for now and don't want to plump for a more expensive/inferior model

I don't think you can use the word inferior yet, as we haven't got an Accurascale 37 in our hands to compare it to the latest Bachmann version. Yes the previous Bachmann version is definitely inferior to the Accurascale version, as the new Bachmann version is a great deal better than the old one. I have both so can comment on this. Once I receive the Accurascale version I can then compare both versions and so comment. None of us can really comment on the two versions yet, as we haven't got an Accurascale version. But I do agree on the more expensive comment, as we can see by the prices.
