I paid £75 for a 3-car ScotRail 170 in 2013. The price hike is getting ridiculous and making the hobby even more off-putting to those on a budget. I'm just glad that I got a majority of my models at a good price when I did.

Seems a bargain to me, theres a second hand 159 on ebay (although in SWT colours) for £1,975. Still, if you want to save a grand, there's another for £975. The new one sounds like a steal! In all seriousness though, while that is a lot of money, the older tooling has sold on many occasions for a similar amount, so I guess people are willing to pay those prices.

Looking at Bachmann Class 150/2 prices, they are not far off tripling in price since they were first released (and they are not an old model)
