  1. You know ,i can`t honestly remember.

I was just wandering around taking a few snaps.

There is a scribble on the back of 2 of the photos  saying April 75.

i seem to think you are right though, in the fact that they are the same loco.

Got a few more pics of the working examples on the same day, to follow soon.

Didn`t you just love those instamatic 126 with the cartridge film.

  2. What's the building backdrop at Goodrington?  I don't remember seeing that before, maybe I was too preoccupied with the traction back in 1977!

Just been on Google Earth, and there's now a housing development called Great Western Close where that building stood.

T`was quite a large goods shed,

but i can`t remember any lines running into the place at the time.

I know i didn`t get much of a view from the road, when going back to the camp

on the top deck of a Devon general sea dog.

  3. Can i just throw these 2 in, from some of our old family holiday shots.

The old fella wouldn`t let me have the camera that often.

i think he knew i would walk down to Goodrington sidings, and sit there all day on a summer saturday.

By the way ,do you remember when your photos came back, from the chemist, on that crappy mat paper ?

  4. Sorry - been away from the internet. Just checked and my pre order is still quoted at £76.46. Don't think I've had this on pre order for that long - was inspired by the preproduction photo's that came out around November.

If you get it for that price, Good on ya.

You`ll be happier with the Warship, than 3 new presflows.

  5. These grain hoppers are due in April/May according to Bachmann's website. Has anyone seen decorated samples yet?

(Rescued from page 6 of the Bachmann site here on RMweb! - they are one of Bachmann's 2015 items I'm looking forward to most.)

    John

    Yes, but at what price.

  6. Hi Ray, I take it you mean the overlap in time when the two types were running alongside each other.... D400 arrived at Bristol Bath Road for crew training in October '72 and once the fitters had done their bit it was put to work on Bristol-Padd services and ended up at Old Oak for driver training runs, along with D401 and D402. Meanwhile the remaining Blue Pullman sets (mixed and matched between ex-LM and WR cars) were still in use but the last one ran in the first week of May 1973 (on the 4th or 5th  think). After that they were stored in the old Coronation Sidings round the back of the Pullman Shed at Old Oak awaiting scrapping.

    Hope that helps ;)

The photo you saw though - can you say / confirm which part of Old Oak it was taken in.... outside the Factory / Servicing Shed / Carriage Sidings...?

Yes it was the overlap in time, that i was thinking about.

It was in a long shed, that as much as i can say really.

There was a set of BP coaches either side of D400 , & a driving car, in line with D400.

if that makes any sense.  But thanks for the reply.

I just love any thing that as a time line so close .ie class 50`s along side steam, etc

did any one get a pic of a green western alongside a blue western, or did a new class 56 ever meet a wezzie?

i think you get the jist . I`m sure there are plenty of other close time lines between different locos.
