Looking impressive. My biggest issue at the moment is the elusive "Intercity Executive Light Grey" I dont know if you know anyone who knows a pantone/Ral/BS paint code for an aerosol? Someone had suggested Pantone 452 on a thread, but far too light to the Bachmann 47.
Any help appreciated.

Well, that ws one of those errors you make when you're rushing! I knew the clusters were lower but forgot to drop them when I modified my model. Here we go with the new version:
The good news is I think I can just cut the printed end off and graft the new one on. If I test fit and then paint and glaze on the bench then it should just be a case of a bit of fill and a yellow touch up on the join. I may just have to extend an LED wire to get them to fit again.
I will probably lose some of the blue/white lining when I mask but it should be fine....I was thinking that my yellow end needs to go back a bit further along the side anyway. I was also slightly unhappy with how I prepared the end for painting - some print lines were still showing!!
I really need to keep up! Didn't like to say. Wish it was that easy, would have just removed the high intensity light. Excellent work. Like I say, got 47712 and 5 Executive Oxfordrail mk3s and DBSO on way. My HST set has gone on the backburner since seeing this set. Also good to hear the set will be visiting the SVR gala in may.

Just ordered an executive DBSO (Bachmann) change the front, warning yellow and change the red stripe to blue. So anyway I'm interested in a Scotrail/DRS front if possible. Another thing, what did you use for Executive light grey? I really need to sort out these oxford rail mk3s! Looking excellent by the way! Executive light grey, really is a minefield between manufacturers.

Well I have found this on here if you want to repaint...
Falcon Grey: Pantone 412
Rail White: Pantone 441
InterCity Executive Light Grey: Pantone 452
Rail Red: British Standard BS381C/593 'Rail Red'
Warning Panel Yellow: BS4800/08E51.The Railtec Regional railways blue stripe will do the job.
I dont know if they have gone but Bachmann-spares.co.uk had some Scotrail DBSO spare bodyshells not so long ago.

I had another go at 9701 now that I have Bachmann's versions. I went to more detail on the window frames and sized them much more like Bachmann's. I also took a new approach to the UV lights and console. This time I printed these separately to fit later. On 9708 I had to detail the cab and then fit it, ready painted to the ready painted body. Because I think I can now add the LEDs tot eh bracketed and insert them and the console after I could do it later! I can also now choose to fit it or not.
These window frames with a DRS front end could be a winner?!

Also with the glazing, I used the clear plastic packaging from a wills kit, cut to size glued in with a beading of glue n glaze, once dried, filled in the recess with glue n glaze up on end until dried clear. Had trouble with sinkage previously.

Yeah, maybe, Just a front so that the yellow can be replaced without affecting the main livery probably works. I think the main challenge would be the lighting circuits to fix them with bi-colour LEDs and a way to route the headlight! I'm experimenting with printing light pipes at the moment! Ideally it would be developed with an actual model in hand but......
Well I actually nodded the front end by scratch building light clusters and using bi colour towels LEDs and smd LEDS. Really couldn't live with the Bachmann front end! The lack of toplight was sacrilege!

There may be scope for some Bachmann DRS DBSO fronts as they have totally cheaped out on the lighting and have the same light pattern as the Anglia tooling... very dissappointed! However this stuff is groundbreaking! Keep it up!

Anglia progress bit slow my end, but will ask, where did you get the Rog 47 in the background?

Just waiting on a spare controller board for the printer! Probably a couple of weeks….
No rush, but would love to model a couple of decent Hornby Anglia Dbsos and of course will do a step, by step on here. I'm definitely wont be rushing out to pre order a new Bachmann one anyway!

So it looks like the Anglia ones can have both the wider or narrow window depending on running number. Other than that the differences to my NR 9702/3 appear to be the headlight surround, the cut out for the electrical connector and the wiring on the front (both of these last 2 like the DRS version I do). I can give it a go when I get some time.....
Here's one I made earlier based on the Bachmann model and PH Designs etches

Out of interest, what paints did you use for the body and doors?
I only ever use aerosol and produce some excellent results. Years of practice!

Sorry Andrew, seemed to miss that one regarding the paint. Well for the end that is Railmatch Warning Panel Yellow, and for the bodyside, Renault Royal Blue. Not 100% match, but close.

These DBSOS are going to be outstanding! I know Bachmann have announced the Anglia DBSO, however I would love to have a bash at one, so was wondering if you were likely to produce some of these yourself?
These are the best 3d printed examples I have seen, other than Pete Harvey's excellent etches, which are great to work with, think you are really on to something here!
Been a bit busy with other projects, but will keep you updated with the DRS DBSO as time allows.
Keep up the excellent work!

These look excellent! I have converted several DBSO'S in Anglia, NR and DRS using PH Designs etches, with excellent results. I have just purchased one of these kits on Ebay and really looking forward to giving this a bash!
The prints appear to incorporate the fine wind deflectors etc, that you could never get with previous whitemetal kits.
Excellent job.... watch this space!
