Rob are there any shows lined up for Peafore Yard this year?

I see the article is written in the third person. Nice photos and a good article.

I agree, nice to see the layout at the Cardiff show Wayne. Very effective use of a small space. I just bought 4 Dapol Telescopic Hoods (weathered) today. Don't tell Baz, he wants some!! See you soon, hopefully at our show on 23 April.

Thanks Brian,
Something to look forward to on Saturday.
I presume you do have an exclusive room set aside for RM webbers ( well at least me, the Stationmaster and Danemouth) to sup BrAIns black from champagne flutes whilst being served mini Clarkes Pies off silver platters?
This happens every day in Cardiff!

Been looking forward to this show for months. It will good to see all those that I know and I have offered my 'services' as a volunteer locum operator etc for the day (well most of the day as I probably go and watch Cardiff City lose in the afternoon).
I think there are some splendid layouts there, and lots of diesels too, even French ones!

With the coaches where they are, shouldn't there be a sign saying 'Mind The Gap'?!!!
-
I can read the sign that says 'Gentleman' but not the station sign which says 'Treorchy' ......I think.

Nor me.

Does anyone know what a Freightliner was doing at Pontypridd (5mins 50 on the second video)? And it's a 6 wagon set - I thought they only ran in sets of 5 and 2. Any ideas?
David
I've seen that video before and as I am from Pontypridd I doubt that it is Ponty. It does not look like anywhere around here. Maybe it's Pontypool? There are a lot of Pontys in this area. Track south of Pontypridd at that time was 4 track all the way downs Radyr and there was , as far as I am aware, no Freightliner traffic on this route.

Just seen 3256 trundling up my way with a brake van, it could do with going through the washer though.

Ah Trefforest Estate, I remember catching very early trains from Pontypridd to Cardiff to go for a day spotting somewhere, there'd be standing room only on the train and then at the Estate 80% would disgorge to got to the factories. The shelters were wooden then and painted cream.

I tried to sell to them about a year ago. They offered about £800 for for a load of OO gauge locos and stock. I declined and got a revised offer of c£870. In the end I put them on Ebay and a private buyer/part time trader came and bought them for £1500. There was once stuff in there including sound locos, resprayed re numbered pre TOPS stuff etc. I know they have to make a profit but so did the guy who bought them.
On another matter I ordered one of their sale items Monday evening, got the normal email response confirming, nothing until yesterday when email I received said it had been sent Royal Mail 48 hour Tracked and it arrived this morning. Great service but the wheels look a bit dirty so not sure if it is brand new or a Heljan reconditioned? Having said that it was £72 for a weathered class 16, which in their May newsletter was prices at £115, so £43 saved does it for me.

Good to meet you today Rob. Our trip over from Wales was good and well timed with a 11.40 departure from Cheltenham for the second leg to Melksham. So just the 30 layouts seen today! I have to say that Peafore Yard looks better 'in the flesh' than on this site. Great job, and I look forward to seeing you next year when the upper level will be shunting too, thanks for the tip on the Wills corrugated clear glass.

Cant wait to see Peafore Yard tomorrow at the Cheltenham exhibition after enjoying the brilliant updates and progress in this topic!
Me too, but it will be Sunday for me. My mate, and driver, has insisted on doing both Cheltenham and Trainwest, so a long day for us ( and probably expensive too).

The Transport Video Publishing DVD 'Kings Cross Suburban' is well worth a watch for anyone interested in these services.
I can highly recommend this DVD, it is my favourite. Great shots of KX etc.

Just come across this thread Rob and I have to say I am impressed. I am a fan of Pallet Lane and saw it at Melksham a few years back. Looks like I will be making a detour from Melksham back to Wales via Cheltenham next month ( I think the shows are the same weekend). Pallet Lane got me interested in a cement terminal, luckily I managed to get 3 triple packs of Presflos last year onEbay for about £30 each, just before the price sky rocketed !
I do like the gradual demonstration of progress and it does seem that small bite sized chunks if work can produce a formidable model at the end. I've been one to find the whole layout building process daunting, but seeing yours slowly develop fills be with confidence to get off my fat **** and start building again.
I look forward to seeing it in the flesh as it were.

Brian , great to see your photos in this thread. I work in offices right next to the old Tyndall Street goods Shed. I have to say they've done a good job on the hotel conversion. I must get some old maps of the area, looks like a good modelling project . Also took a drive to the old site of Clarence road, which I remember well, but sadly nothing to see now, just rows and rows of modern flats.
Anyway , see you at the Cardiff show in a few weeks time. I am in Florida so will probably. Come back with the basis of a new US layout, I always do!

What always amazes me Brian is how quick you build the b****y things!

Has anyone heard any updates about when the 122 will be in the shops? i was told at Warley that they would be out this March, and various retailers have told me March too, so only 15 days to go if that is correct. It's all gone a bit quiet.
