  1. Made a kind-of spur of the moment purchase today - a Nikon D5500. Here are a few pictures I took with it earlier.
  2. Glad to hear you've made a bit of a start. Mike
  3. Thanks Jock, When are you getting your project under way? Mike
  4. Cheers guys. Glad you like them. Simon, it's a private yard (in my mind anyway) and poorly kept. Anyway, it's not unusual to see rail lying in the four-foot even on a main line. Mike
  5. After a couple of days pottering on the layout I've really started to make progress again: The loading bay wall is practically complete, The area of grass at the front left corner has been done, The cobbles gave been stuck down and grass 'planted' along the front edge between them and the track. Here are a few couple of shots of the loading bay walls - the usual rules apply: DAS clay all round! The light wasn't great tonight, but here are some shots of the 08 and a Tiphook hooded wagon.
  6. Thanks John, Always nice to know that my wee project might be inspiring people. Mike
  7. Cope stones ready for painting and installation: Mike
  8. Manages to roll out some DAS to make the copes for the loading bay wall. Now it just has to dry. To pass the time here are a bunch of photos from the other night... Mike
  9. One more crappy 90s camera shot... Mike
  10. Thanks guys. I really think I'm starting to capture the atmosphere I imagined when I first started out. I think you're right about it being a Thursday morning Paul. Mike
  11. Four more for tonight: I need to go away and have a think about what I'm going for a back scene and how to disguise the end of the smaller shed. Mike
  12. Glad you like it Simon. It's one of my favourites. It's a shame it wasn't completely sharp, although that does help with the early 90s crappy camera effect. Need to paint the barrel of that cable drum... Mike
  13. Thanks Paul. Glad to be back doing something. Decided to start on this section of the layout as I'm dreading going back to the granary windows... The light's good tonight so I might go and take some more photos. Mike
  14. Spent the afternoon scribing stonework for the loading bay wall and muddying up the track in that area. Mike
  15. Scribing stonework - I love it...
  16. Excuse me, has anybody seen my modelling mojo? It may have been missing for quite some time. I'd like it if someone could find it for me. Thanks in advance, Mike
  17. In a rather disappointing state of affairs there hasn't been much happening down at Thorburn's. To make up for it I thought I should post a couple of pictures of the 26 now that it can move under it's own steam... The next job on the list is to make a start on the loading bay wall. Mike
  18. Mark, You're right. Must just have been the only paint they had when they patched the door up. I found this image of the door at the other end with a panel missing. http://www.martinbray-ukloco.com/images/class26-27/26037-invernessyard-050894.jpg Mike
  19. Fancying making a proper start with weathering the Class 26 so I've been scouring the internet for some images of 26037 in action. This one looks pretty close to what I'm after, taken 6 months before withdrawal from service. 26037 PO 3-4-93 by vincentminto, on Flickr Love the door that looks like it's been a donation from something with a dutch livery. Mike
  20. Jock, Good to see you back here. I haven't noticed any cracking but i didn't really try to cover large areas at any one time. All of the Bill Bedford W-irons can be used for OO as there isn't any change in the axle length. Dead easy to build too as there's no soldering - just bend along the lines. Mike
  21. Thanks Colin. I'm pretty pleased with they way it looks. I had though about threading it through the top link of the coupling but it was going to be a bit of a fiddle. Mike
  22. Sorry about that... Cheers for the axle box information. My first port of call may well be trying to keep the ones from the FTG wagon. Mike
