  1. I have soldered two pieces of flexitrack in straight section prior to curving using Tracksetta templates- but avoiding the join at the ends of the curve. An odd soldered joint here and there shouldn’t affect thermal track changes provided that you do allow for expansion and come traction elsewhere around the layout. On an 8x4 layout, the maximum practical radius is 18” or so which is well within a yard of flexitrack. You can always add a short straight section between two curved sections and join to that should you decide not to solder joints.
  2. 25 yards/75 ft- I read that elsewhere too but didn’t believe it Thats 300mm spacing in OO which won’t work visually for me. I think artistic license will be called for. Construction details that you requested- 3mm brass tubing 5mm yellow LED nylon washers ( shades) heat shrink tubing (1mm) C&R finescale brass ladders - use offcuts for stabilising brackets to post brass wire turned round suitable drill bit to form safety cradle at top of ladders very fine wiring (Expo super flexible fine) 1k subminiature resistor small enough to fit within tubing ( or elsewhere if you wish) Bend LED to shape and fit washer cut brass tubing to desired length ( I copied Bachmann yard lamp ) solder LEDs up and insulate Solder ladder, brackets and ring Assemble and test paint I plan to embed 4mm brass tubing into baseboard to receive lamppost - makes for snug fit and ease of removal if needed. Please post you finished result!!! good luck

  5. Did you find the answer to this question- I’m just about to start building up this kit.... my second. I remember a similar posting and I contacted Wills at the time and they posted out the latest plans... they were the same as the set that came in the kit. possibly the latest kits now have the right set included. just for interest, my aim with this second attempt is to mechanise the doors with servo/stepped motor control- I haven’t a clue yet as to how I’m going to hinge the doors And link them unobtrusively to the linkage system. should anyone have any ideas, please let me know.
  6. Thank you Zero Gravitas! This was my first attempt at wood weathering on a recent magazine freebie... I followed the worked example given at the beginning of the thread- For a first attempt, I’m pleased with the outcome, having been searching for a viable simple method. Now to add final top weathered layers and rust up the iron work. Thanks again
  7. ps would they be DCC compatible? Neil
  8. Hi I like your turntables- since seeing fully operational ones together with motorised ventilated wagons on the "Leicester South" layout in Manchester recently, I was looking at having a go. Could you quote for OO code 75 track? If it is viable, maybe for 4 units? regards Neil
